Cleaning oilcloth?

I bought 3 metres of oilcloth for a tablecover years ago (its fabric with a pvc upper coating) and it's looking a bit grubby from the underside now. Although you aren't meant to wash it, only wipe it with a damp cloth, in the past I have bunged it in the machine for a quick wash at 30 degrees and it's been fine. It's pretty grubby now and I would like to give it a good clean so was thinking I would lay it in the bath with some bio powder for a few hours but thought I would check here first incase anyone knows a better way to clean it?
