'KFC' style chicken

Someone on here was asking for friend chicken reciepe the other day so i thought i would post this one, which is supposed to be the reall KFC recipe (it might be).

1/2 cup salt, 1/4 cup black pepper,1/4 cup msg,1/4 cup garlic salt,1/4 teaspoon tumeric, 1/4 teaspoon ground sage, 3/4 teaspoon curry powder, 3/4 teaspoon onion salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 4 cups flour.

Mix all dry ingredients together. Place chicken peices in an egg mixture of 2 beaten eggs & 2 cups of water. Drain & then coat each peice in the flour mixture. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown. Finish in the oven 300degreees c for 1 hour ( i think this is key, all that horrid fat drips out)

Happy Frying & save lots of lovely cash !

hope it's not degrees C that would make it something like gas mark 11!! (yes i know it goes up to 9)

Hopefully gas mark 2 or 300degree F (150 degree C) is what it means...looks like it could be nice though.

It's called Monosodium Glutamate, and it's a flavour enhancer. You can get it from most asian shops.

yep, monosodium glutamate. You can buy it from the chinese supermarket but i think its become one of those things we avoid because it makes everything taste good (or something).

    Yep, 300 degrees f. oops!

if it is the real KFC reciepe you could make a million me thinks

this maybe just one of thoose things you hear of the net but i heard that the actual ingredients for the KFC chicken do not contain the " secret ingredent" that they used bang on about. it just really simple stuff like "above " done in a certain way

here is amusing site about KFC clones although last time i checked it did not have the best one i ever saw "Krunchy Fried Chicken" in Hull .:rotfl:

still each link inside is a classic in it's own right :rotfl: :rotfl:

I dont know if its real tbh but i once knew someone who ran a KFC and the spices mixture for the flour came in sealed packets from the US, so it might not have a secret ingredient but the ingredients are pretty secret iyswim!

I fry chicken breasts for 15 minutes in a spoonful of ordinary olive oil in a lidded pan turning over a few times. You must be careful not to overheat the oil and make sure that the meat is cooked fully. Take them out and set aside, add a little lemon juice and a few capers to the pan and deglaze it, heat this for a minute or two to combine it with the juices and pour it over the chicken on the plate. Much healthier!

Deep fried stuff is a no no for me because I'm on a diet, but I wonder if one could follow the OP's recipe and fry it my way, with just a spoonful of ordinary Olive Oil? Might give it a whirl.
