Ex partner's debt

My ex partner left our property a year ago., He has recently stopped paying a direct debit payment for a interest free credit agreement with HFC. He thinks I should pay the dd as the furniture is still in our joint property but I have told him to take it as i cannot afford to pay for it, He has defaulted on two payments and HFC bank have been trying to contact him though the landline number. I only found out today he had not paid the dd payments. I have tried to talk to him and he says he is not paying it and they can repossess it from our home. Can any one tell me my legal position and what is likely to happen?

If the credit agreement is solely in his name then there is not much they can do to you other than reposess the furniture. Have you passed on his new contact details to HFC?Getting married 02.08.14

If it's a credit agreement then the furniture cannot be reposessed (it can with Hire Purchase). If the agreement is in his sole name then HFC must pursue him for the debt.
