Another's debt...

Hi there,
I think this goes here...
A friend
rented a room out to someone who owed a lot of money to various creditors, and was at the time in agreement to pay £1 a month on the frozen amounts, with an increase envisaged. However, said renter has now gone off the radar, so to speak . Will my friend now be harassed by debt collection agencies as this person's last known address?
Will her credit score be negatively affected?
Thank you

Your friend's credit file WILL be affected if she lives at the same property. As for being harrassed, she needs to send back any letters and not just cut them up. So long as her name is not on letters she is not liable.0

What utter tosh.
There are technically seven people living at our address (as the postcode database doesn't record the flats as such, just the door number).
None of our credit files are linked and none of our histories impact each other.
Credit histories do not get registered to an address, but to an individual.
IF two individuals have in their time applied jointly for a financial product, they will be linked, until such a time any financial products they held have been closed and they have been through the notice of disassociation process via the credit reference agencies.
Unless the tennant applied for a financial product jointly with your friend they will still be treated as two totally separate people.
Your friendly merely needs to pop any post addressed to the ex-tenant labelled "Recipient Gone Away - Return to Sender" back in the mailbox and that particular company will not write there again.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
