The crafters, who this forum was set up for, all make and sell beautiful items that have been made with love and care and they are a great bunch of folk!!!! :jCrafty and Crazy :rotfl:0 -
Congrats Fiona for speaking up for us crafters............ we love what we do and put hours of blood sweat and tears into everything we make and don't need customers like that, but for one or two comments like that we get hundreds of compliments . A happy and prosperous 2011 and.......................keep crafting::T0

I wont tell you what you remind me of because I am a polite, supportive, positive, encouraging, motivated and creative person who has taken many years to learn a skill and develop products for sale in cafes around England and Ireland, and at National Trust and national events which have raised countless pennies all over Ireland for charities and schools, along with my fellow crafters here.
There is quite a difference between a "car boot sale" which is obviously the kind of event you are referring to, and to an event where crafters pay considerable sums of money to rent a location at a major craft event supporting a charity or school or at a nationally renowned property such as a National Trust event, to create their stock and to cover their insurance premiums and obtain the correct licenses to do so.
The true crafters that are represented on this particular thread create crafted items that might include hand blown glass beads turned into jewellery using gold or silver findings, hand made glazed pottery in a kiln bought and paid for by the crafter, hand made jams and preserves made in a crafters certified catering kitchen, hand made breads and cakes for the home or for weddings and parties, baked in a crafters certified catering kitchen, hand sewn fabrics to make funky, unusual and practical gifts and household items, heritage toys to be passed down the generations, hand crafted soaps and bath accessories that are licensed, contemporary hand knitted individual and commissioned pieces of work...the list goes on and on.
Respect people who train, and study, and pay money to do all of the above - some in their spare time, some in addition to full time jobs, some who have been made unemployed in recent times or who are just trying to make ends meet, some that have used their skill as part of a recouperation from depression or other illness or family stresses, all of us who have got up off our backsides to DO something rather than bemoan our situations, and most of all, ALL of us who have created a crafting family here in Northern Ireland which brings great enjoyment and support to its members, and shows exactly what true grit and determination we all have in some very challenging times.
Ruffling feathers is nothing to be proud of - its actually rather sad that you consider it a badge of honour. Go and find another forum to wind up because you will not succeed here my friend, we have faced much worse.....Im knitty, Im nutty, but I dont know anyone called Nora.0 -
well said supermum :-)0

Ladies, Ladies, calm down. I don't want you to turn out like my Aunt Betty, when we visit her it takes ages to tell where she is as she's camouflaged among the ornaments. No word of a lie, her jewellery matches with everything in the room.0
