Hi Snowdon - have just read your thread - a few similarities in that my ex was about as "nice" as yours and I was the same age with 3 DS's when I got rid of him. I kept the house, but had to pay him off for doing the dirty on me. Cost me dear, but quality of life so much better afterwards. Yes some very wobbly bits along the way including very large debts owing to having to use CC's as a partners income IYSWIM. Now happily married again, 3 great sons who see their father for what he actually is - in the end he has lost everything. I sincerely wish you all the very best and will keep logging on just to check that you are keeping on the straight and narrow. Now must really do some work. Billie xx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0

If you do manage to log on again, good luck with your moving day and I hope you'll be very happy in your new home (albeit temporarily).
What a lovely start that DS is staying immediately, I'm sure you'll be seeing lots of him from tomorrow!!
I don't have very recent knowledge of mortgages. A couple of years ago my DD1 was looking for a house and she had mortgage 'agreed in principle' both to give her confidence that she could afford it and also because some agents asked to deter time-wasters. However then the mortgage products were changing very fast and what was best might change and also I don't think sellers can afford to be so picky now. I'd advise you look on here or in finance pages of Sunday papers for some recommendations then go and speak to some banks/building societies and ask about your options. You can make enquiries without committing yourself. It'll get you started but there's no guarantee that when you find your dream home that the original product will still be available. So obviously, I don't think you're mad to be doing this!! Go for it!0 -

Hi everyone, thank you for your good wishes.
Thanks for saying hi Billie!
You won't believe this, about ten minutes after my last post my new landlord phoned me - he can't get the central heating boiler to work! I knew I was pushing my luck expecting things to go without a hitch! I'm still moving though, I can use the log burner to heat the house and the plumber should be there to fix the boiler tomorrow.
DS3 has a school trip next week, so thats another £30 plus about £18 for school photos. Its never ending!
We were having a chat on the phone and I could hear H in the background making not very nice remarks about me to DS3. He got a letter from my Sols this morning so that must have triggered it off. DS3 sounded so sad, he shouldn't have to listen to that. Thank goodness I'll be back home from tomorrow. I honestly thought I was doing the right thing leaving him with his dad and letting him stay on at his school. Happy moving day Snowdonlily. When you get there, pull around these boxes and get the jumpers out to get warm. Don't let it deter you. This is brilliant.
In mortgage front, I agree with maman on getting an offer in principle so it sets the scene for you budget wise. One piece of advice, don't overstretch yourself and walk away even if you believe this is the dream place. Happened to me in 2009, i was so in love with the place and so blind, ready for a lot of compromises (only 1 bedroom, very steep stair case, public path in front of house door, no enclosed garden, having to go through bedroom to get to bathroom and wc). The evaluation from the mortgage company came back £25,000 less than our offer. We had to pull out. I was very upset but without really looking 2 months later we found the most perfect place that was with different compromises but that we could happily live with.MFW on your mark0 -
great news about the house move, even if the heating is a bit dodgy. What a s o d your ex is to speak bad things about you when any of your DS's can here. that really sucks.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi SL hope today has gone well!!xx0

Hello everyone, thanks for all the good wishes

The move went according to plan and thank goodness, the central heating was up and running when we got to the new house. They'd even lit the fire for me! I honestly can't believe how warm this new place is - I haven't had the central heating on at all yet, the only source of heat is the log burner and its nice and cosy.
DS3 came over on Thursday after school to help with the move and he stayed over from Friday to Sunday, then came back after school on Monday to spend the evening
:):)
I've had one little blip..........I bought a bookshelf! Naughty I know, but I couldn't resist its beautiful.
I'm back at work today, so have access to the internet, but I won't have access at home till Friday. Judging by the extent of my "internet withdrawal symptoms" I've been spending far too much time cooped up indoors on the internet and not enough time out in the fresh air. I took BF for a walk on Sunday and I'd forgotten how beautiful the countryside is around here and best of all its FREE :T
I've also decided to start swimming again. Its not free, but worth it, I think, if it helps me lose a few pounds (which it did last time I swam regularly!). My confidence could do with a bit of a boost.
Right, better go and do some work.
