Hello, still around, not as much as used to due to work hours. Bit of anti-climax I see but this is counter reaction from the most exciting news about your house move. Lots of people including I find Feb a hard month to get going despite being short. Banalities sorry !
Stay strong, take careMFW on your mark0 -
Hi everyone, hi Karom. Nice to hear from you. I know what you mean about Feb being a tough month, I find it really hard to get motivated sometimes.
Well, today is payday yayy!
So far I've resisted all temptations and it looks like I'm on course for my first NSD for this month. For the purpose of counting NSDs I'm going to measure my month from payday to payday.
I brought a book to work today to read during my lunch hour so I haven't even bought a newspaper (can you see my nice shiny halo?)
Seeing DS3 tonight, unfortunately, not for long (he has training later). H making things difficult, but trying really hard not to get riled and rise above it. Told him that DS3 will hopefully be able to stay over with me in a couple of weeks - that went down like a ton of bricks!! I hope I haven't made a mistake in telling him.
Work has been really busy today so the time has just flown by. I always get itchy feet at this time of the year and start looking around for different jobs, never move though, so deep down I must like what I do
Spends so far today £0 :ATotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Loads gone on today. I won't go into detail on here.............just in case, but have had about 3 telephone conversations with my Solicitor today. Certain people haven't been perfectly honest which comes as no surprise really.
Saw DS3 and had a lovely couple of hours in his company. Can't wait to be able to spend more time with him.
Was driving home today and it suddenly struck me - I'm 100% responsible for myself now. Moving house in a couple of weeks, changing all the service providers, buying a house (hopefully) in a few months, getting a mortgage (fingers crossed!) and making sure everything gets paid :eek::eek:
Its taken me till the grand old age of 41 to feel like a grown-up!
If things get messed up this time, its ALL my fault. Talk about a wake-up call.
Nice glass of wine now, then bed I think.
Ooh yes, managed a NSD today, the first of many I hope. I'll have to fill the car tomorrow, but I'm not counting petrol as a "spend".

Hello! Hope everyone's having a good Sunday

I've been packing today. Its the second time in about 8 months I've had all my belongings in binbags. I'm happy to say that this time it feels completely different................this time I'm happy doing it :j
I tried to have a no spend day today, but didn't quite manage it. I ran out of binbags, so popped to the supermarket. Came out with a pack of binbags...............and a tiramisu! BF coming over later to help me eat the last of the lamb from the freezer (just in case you thought I was going to eat it all by myself :rotfl:).
Sold 7 items on ebay last night which came to £85 - only one paid so far. Still haven't been paid for something I sold over a week ago. I think I've been very patient, but looks like I'll have to report a NPB. I've never had to do it before
I have a question. When I get my absolute, what do I call myself? I won't be Mrs X anymore, so do I go back to being Miss Y? I presume I'd have to change my name by Deed Poll if I wanted to do that. I don't know how I feel about having a different name to my boys. Just wondering what others have done in the same circumstances.
My head's bursting with all the stuff I have on my mind at the moment. All these silly little questions and things to do
Okay............thats my coffee break over - back to the ironing I go!

:hello: Hi SL, glad to hear things are moving along for you. You're obviously fired up and excited about the move and I don't blame you!!!
I know exactly how you feel about the possibility of name change and the boys. When I was divorced I kept my married name partly because DD was still at school then and because it had become my 'professional' name in that everyone in my work circles knew me as that. Strangely, even though I've been married to someone else for years now I still use that name. I should just ask your solicitor about deed poll or whatever. My understanding is that a name change isn't a problem provided you have no intention to defraud. My bank know about my 'married' name just in case I have cheques to pay in but otherwise I've never had any problems.
On the ebay front, it's just possible that the person who hasn't paid has been away for half term so I would give it a few more days before reporting them. Well done on making the extra money.
Hope you have a good week!0 -
Not a happy bunny this morning
Just checked my bank balance online and DS3's mobile phone payment went out this morning. Should be £15, but was a whopping £88!!! My little "angel" must have been calling his girlfriend every day while he was away on his school skiing trip.
He's just been warned that if I have another bill like that one, he's back on PAYG and I won't be paying!
Just sent a nice reminder to the ebayer that hasn't paid. The auction ended on the 14th so I think I've been very patient up till now. I've asked him/her to pay and if they can't pay, to let me know and I'll have to relist my item and report it as being unpaid in order to get my fees back. I was very polite
Called the Council this morning to book a bulky refuse collection to take away my old fridge/freezer next week. I'm not about to give the Letting Agent any excuse to withold a single penny of my deposit (I wouldn't put it past him!).
I'd better get back to work. Have a good day everyone xTotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -

oh yes teenage boys and mobile phones not a good mix. My darling boy lost his mobile but did not bother to tell us cos he thought it was in the house. When I got an £850 bill he then told me and I found out somebody had been phoning Pakistan every day for ten days. Seven days later he left on the train and the guard called us to say he had found it!!!!!!! Needless to say contract finishes in May and he can then sort himself out!!
When is the official move date SL? x0 -
Hi everyone, hope you all had a good day

Spendtoomuch - moving day is on the 10th which means only 8 more "sleeps" left here and only 5 more journeys to work along this horrible twisty road!
Lovely BF has an even lovelier friend (not really lovelier) who's letting him borrow his van to help me move. This is saving me about £50 which is good cos thanks to DS3's huge phone bill, the rest of the month looks like being a tight squeeze.
You're quite right Beanielou, teenage boys and contracts don't mix. Especially when there's a girl involved
To be fair, I took out the contract last April and he's been really good about not going over. He's on "probation" now so watch this space :rotfl:
I'm totally in love with my slow cooker - its the best thing since sliced bread!
Most of my stuff is packed now and I'm off tomorrow and Friday so I'm going to have a cleaning blitz. If I'm organised, I won't have to come back here after next Thursday, which will save me 1/3 of a tank of petrol (equivalent to about £17).
Really busy day at work today, so I'm having a well deserved glass of Jacobs Creek and a few chocolate eclairs. Failed miserably to have a NSD today, but I DID use my Mr.T vouchers to buy the wine
  You need a treat sometimes!
Am going to be getting more duties at work in the next few months. No more money unfortunately. I'm not complaining though because at least I know my job is safe for the next couple of years. A lot of people on this forum aren't as lucky.
I'm totally obsessed with checking out property websites - I can't help myself! I'm hooked on "Relocatoin Relocation" and at the moment am watching Grand Designs
I'm quite nervous at the thought of being all independent and getting my own mortgage. Its scary but very do-able. Mind you, it'll be a very small mortgage by most people's standards - small but all mine!Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Hello, hope everyone's having a good day!
Its moving day tomorrow at last :j
Really can't wait to get things done now. I've been getting stressy about things all week (worrying that something's going to go wrong!) and have had a migraine for two days solid
:(
On the plus side been really good and had a few NSDs. If I'm honest, I think this has more to do with my migraines than me being particulary MSE
Had a nice surprise today. Went into the bank in my lunchhour to enquire about paying back my bank loan. Seems like some of the interest will be repaid if its paid back before the end of the 5 year term. Things are finally starting to move with the ex now, hopefully everything should be sorted within a couple of months (fingers crossed!).
I've been lurking a lot on the mortgage boards trying to pick up a few tips and some information about what I should be looking for. I have to admit I'm totally clueless about mortgages (but I'm learning!). What I would really like is to have one that I can overpay when and if I have any spare cash.
Not really sure how the process works. Do you get an offer "in principle" before looking at houses or do you find a house first and then go after a mortgage? A really basic question, I know!
This new tenancy I'm taking on is an informal one with a friend of a friend so if things happen quicker than anticipated, I won't be tied to a six month agreement. I know things could go wrong and he could want me out after say two months, but I'll just have to take the chance. I can always move back in with mum and dad :eek: (I'm only joking, they've been really good to me through all this!).
DS3 coming round for tea after school tomorrow and staying with me for the whole weekend. I'm pretty sure my grocery bill will go through the roof now, but its worth every penny. I'm really happy to be going home at last, but nervous at the same time. Sometimes I think I must be mad starting again at my age!!
I won't have my broadband set up in the new house for a few days, so I'll have to do MSE cold turkey
. Dont worry, I've plenty of books to read which will then be put on ebay. I've managed perfectly well these last couple of weeks with only a fraction of the clothes in my wardrobe (the rest having been packed up a couple of weeks ago) so one of my first projects in the new house will be to stick most of the stuff I don't wear on ebay and try to save enough money to cover the Stamp Duty on a new house.
Right, I spose I'd better go and do some work!
