i'm married

well I'm married! just
the day started of fine, we set up at 11am, oh it looked so lovely with the baubles and the polka dot coasters / doilies, chair covers etc.
12:30pm we started to go home and it started to snow, in the space of 10 minutes the motor way we were on came to a standstill and what is usually a 15 minute journey took us 2 hours!
so i get in at 2:30pm to jump in the chair to get my hair done by my poor hairdresser who had been there since 12:30pm, come 3pm when i'm due at the church the vw beetle man rings to say he can't get the car out but would i like him to find a land rover which he does bless him.
so we leave after putting my dress on at 3:30pm getting to the church at 4:15pm but my poor mother gets stuck in the traffic stand still and she doesn't get to the church til 5:30pm so in we go have the service which was beautiful and hubby cried which made me whisper my vows other wise i would have burst into tears i love him so much.
so we leave the church and go to go onto the thanet way when we see police and cones and the motor way and all the roads are closed.
luckily my friend rung her friend up who has a pub with a function room and they got a DJ in half a hour and put on a large buffet and let us use the room.
i was so touched by the kindness of these people.
only 20 or so could make it to the wedding out of the 100 who were coming which is what i am most upset about, my dearest and oldest friends couldn't share our day and they did cry with us.
to make it worse the venue we were meant to have had to throw all the meat and evening buffet and our wedding insurance doesn't cover mad weather but they have kindly said they won't do a 3 course meal but will do a buffet gutted at that but its better than nothing so i have another 6 months to plan things and our vicar said she will do a bless and we can have bells and choir because they had left by the time we got married
so not awful but nothing like i ever dreamed and i HATE the snow haha

Oh hugs Fly Dragon, sounds like a nightmare of a day! At least you managed to get married though and that's the main part, although it doesn't make up for people not making it. Flipping weather is a nightmare x0

Please tell me they didn't throw away the cupcakes? If it wasn't for them I would have been there!0

The main thing is is that you got married love, and it looks like you've been lucky that the vicar and reception venue will rehost things for you. Sorry it didn't work out how it was supposed to.
Love and hugs

Oh Noooo, after all that planning too!
I'm so sorry things didn't go according to plan, but be honest and tell us did it really matter once you'd both said your vows?
I'm betting the answer is No
And Congratulations to you and your husband! xxxTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
o no what a palaver
. Bloody snow! Main thing is you did get married and it sounds very emotional and special in its own way. Good on the pub for getting things back on track for you.

it didn't on the day, but its been heartbreaking today seeing the room all set up and knowing all the food got thrown away and the cakes looking lovely and untouched and the fact that a lot of our closest friend / family weren't there broke my heart and i am really gutted spent most of today crying but we can do it all again in 6 months so its not all lost! xx0 -

Aww honey
That's what I mean though, on the day when you did the deed, it's surreal isn't it, I think almost anything could happen and you wouldn't blink an eye.
I would have been the same as you, swept away with it all on the day, but gutted afterwards.
The main thing is, you got married, you were all safe and so were your friends and family xTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Congratulations! A shame about the weather, but you're looking on the bright side, which is the best way to be!saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
