Fancy you being a Bristolian! One of my grandfathers (whom I never knew as he died when my father was a toddler) was born in Bristol! I haven't been there for (over 40!) years but it's on our list of places to visit. I'm a great Brunel fan and really want to see the SS Great Britain at some point. It will be interesting to see just how much Bristol has changed since the 1960s.
Let's hope you can get Megatrain tickets rather than Megabus. You'll certainly have a much more comfortable journey if you do.
I’ve had a look at the 2FOR1 FAQs ( http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/faq.aspx#1). Although they don’t mention Megatrain as such, there’s nothing saying that you can’t use Megatrain tickets for the 2FOR1 deals. According to the FAQs, 2FOR1 are available with almost ANY type of “paper” train tickets to London (ie, ones with the double arrow rail logo on them), including various promotional tickets. (I assume Megatrain tickets have the logo.) Might be worth checking at your local station, though.
Assuming that Megatrain tickets do count then if, for example, you bought a single ticket from Bristol to London for a one-way journey on a Monday and another from London to Bristol on the Friday you’d will be able to use 2FOR1 vouchers during the Monday-Friday period. You’d have to show both “out” and “return” tickets, so don’t put the “out” ticket in the automated barrier when you get to Waterloo (it’ll be swallowed!). Instead, find one of the ticket people on the barriers and tell them that you need to keep your outward tickets!)
It might be worth looking at the other 2FOR1 offers, as something else might take your fancy. There’s a load of different deals. Not just “attractions” but things like afternoon teas, restaurants etc. Have a browse here http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/2for1-london. (We have some friends from the States staying with us so intend to make use of some of the deals ourselves over the next 3 weeks! BTW, I may not have time to keep up with your thread while they're here - I haven't subscribed but just "pop in" to it from time to time - but feel free to PM me if you have any other questions about your trip.)
Hope your little bro gets well soon.0 -
Grey fox - you will find Bristol has changed a lot! There has been a huge amount of money spent in just the last 10 - 15 years or so! If you do see the Great Britain, your tickets are valid for a year now and if you have an internet phone and are bringing kids with you, then download voucher cloud and you can search for a free kids ticket.0

Greyfox, many help for all that info. I am still waiting for megabus but I will make sure that I don't put them in the ticket machines
I hope you are having a nice time in London with your friends

Afternoon PAP, hope you're enjoying this lovely weather (actually I hope you have lovely weather!)
I bet you're really looking forward to the London trip now. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hi Claire, I hope you are ok, are you still making jewelery? Yes I am still around mainly sticking to my diary and lurking these day though
Scubaangel, helloIt was lovely today, I hope it was where you are. I managed to sit in my new garden with no one overlooking me and in peace and quiet... Bliss. Yes London isn't far, 5ish weeks off the top of my head, its scary :rotfl: Can't wait though :T

I'll bet, I've been told this evening I'm having a day out there on Tuesday with some mates, and for day out read drinking session where the other half gets increasingly grouchy because he's teetotal and bored but wants to see our mates too.
Yeah it's been fab up here, but I've spent most of the day in my old room at Dad's house trying to sort and pack up more of my things to take home, don't seem to have got very far and am meant to be driving home tomorrow. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I hope you got all your packing done SA, plus had a lovely day out
So tickets to London booked :j £27.50 (including booking fee) train up but coach back as there were no megatrains. Works out at £13.75 each, super cheap. So at the moment I have spent £207.50 on the week away and have travel, accomodation, London eye and a river cruise. Will now use the train ticket as '2 for 1' for the Zoo and will look at a deal for the tower of London. All coming together
Have a great bank holiday weekend all :beer:0
