yep - i know, you never answered last time...

They are closed systems and are not open to outside peer review, hence are scientifically worthless statistics.

They rely on people believing in them, rather than basis in fact. Rather like religion.
so all of them are wrong, even though they tell us the same thing about house prices (when they go up or when they go down)....

do you realise for that to happen they would all have to be in this little conspiracy together - is that what you're saying?

    No,

I'm saying they have no value as they are not peer reviewed.

I have no thought of conspiracy, when the data itself has the authenticity of a folded kipper.

but they all the same thing - are they all wrong then?

it must be very difficult for all these house price indexes to build their algorithims and all get it to tell us virtually the same thing - now that's a concidence!!

    Take this example.

Church or england - god exists
    Catholic church - god exists
Russian Orthodox Church - god exists.

Does god exist? By your argument it is proven!

a bit of a difference - the indexes have a mathematical calculation to provide the results.

No, I'm claiming they have nothing to do with 'average' house/home values.

You understand that these are two different statements? The figures could be accurate and not peer reviewed.

Sorry, I never saw this before posting my post above this one. If I had seen this one I'd never had got involved in this thread, so please pretend I'd never been here.

Garry Glitter being the queen 'could' be accurate but is not peer reviewed.

I like facts and things what are proven. All I'm saying is that there is no scrutiny, hence the figures are invalid.

Say for example Halifax provided the index, the sample data and the methodology. People would/could understand what it meant.

Just randomly putting out some figure does no-one ant favours.

BTW the Garry Glitter is the queen index is currently 95, up from 72.

    Yay for random numbers.

Sorry for believing in fact rather than fiction.

Obviously I'm a mentalist for living in reality.
