I am really struggling to figure out what to do with my hair! I have long, straight, fine hair that doesn't really hold a curl for any length of time, and I just don't know what to do with it. I think I want it up, as then I don't have to spend the day worrying about it falling flat or anything. I had a hair trial a week ago, and he put it into a low side bun, with a side parting, and while I liked how it looked from the front, I didn't like it from the back, it just looked a bit weird.

I do have another hair trial booked for tomorrow afternoon, as the hairdresser had a bit of a mix up with appointments and we got double booked so he couldn't spend as much time focused on me as he originally wanted, and offered me another trial free of charge, which is great, but I need to go with some ideas and I'm a bit stuck!

I'm not having a veil, or tiara. I've got a sparkly pin from glitzy secrets to slide into a bun or something (this one) but would consider buying something else if I was going for a different hairstyle.

So, how is everyone else doing their hair?

my friend had a side bun thing, which looked really elegant, and she had a big rose pinned to it, it looked lovely.
If you think it looks a bit weird from the back, could you put little pins or a daisy chain type thing around it?

I think the low bun sounds lovely.

I'm getting married in rhodes so i don't want to get too hot, so i need it up and high off my neck or it'll irritate me. My mum can do french plaits, so i'm going to hang my head upside down and get her to do an upside down one starting at my neck and finishing at the back of the top of my head. Sounds very weird, but looks nice. And then I'm wearing a bird cage veil which i'll probably unclip for the eveningy bit.
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

I have hair that doesn't hold curls, but I was adament I really wanted a complete change for my wedding day, and my hair on the day was in my top 5 most favourite/best bits of the day.

Speak to your hair dressers and see what they can do, mine was curled with a "wand" and sprayed into place, yes they dropped but nothing major

will try and load piccies when I can find them (at work at the moment)

These are links to our prof pictures (hopefully they will work)

Believe it or believe it not my hair is bra strap length, if not slightly longer for the wedding day

As the previous poster said, a good hairdresser can get curls into any hair. And, if you have your hair up, it won't drop as much. They drop when your hair is down because the heat from your shoulders/neck/back. I had long hair when I got married and I never did anything with it - always wore it straight and down or slung up in a ponytail. I went for a full on bridal updo and absolutely loved it. :D

Same as the previous poster it was one of my favourite things. I started out wanting it down or half-down and the hairdresser convinced me to try and updo. I'm so glad he did because my dress was huge and OTT and it needed a full on hairdo to go with it. :)
  • I have similar hair to yours, and will be going for a low updo, basically pinned at the nape of my neck, a little like this. If you want a low bun but don't like how it looks from the back why not just centralise it, a bit like this?

    I quite like this one

I have long hair medium thickness. I quite often put my hair in a loose bun every day as i cannot stand hair round my face for to long. This is my compromise. You can get hairpieces or foam hidden thingamajigs to thicken up a bun. A good hairdresser will be able to match it up to your hair colour as well :)
  • I'm another fine limp long hair bride here. I had a curl put in my hair for my sister's wedding, and although it held for 2-3hrs, I was still a little disspaointed, and it ended up a bit frizzy. Will keep my eye on this thread!

Loving all these hairstyles, unfortunately can't help with suggestions as I have a stupid chin length graduated bob, goodness knows what my hairdresser will do with it! I want long hair!!!
  • I have fine, faffy hair, which holds little style, and I cant wear slides, combs etc, as they just slide out.

I am having a low bun, but kind of messy, not really smooth, with loose curly tendrils at the front - with loads of pins in the bun, and a ton of extra hold hairspray! I am going to have an alice band with a side thing in too. My hairdresser did my hair in a similar style for something else, and I loved it, I felt so glam!:T
