I expect every child in this country to have food on her table, shoes on her feet and a cleanish, warmish house. If that means I (and you) have to support her ne'er-do-well parents so be it.
And that's why the sink estate baby factories are in full production, producing more ne'er-do-wells. Why should they stop? A nice living is to be had for nothing.

But it begs the question: What happens when they are finally absorbing all the resources of the state?

Thankyou, It does make it a litttle easier knowing others have had to do it.
The point I find truly maddening is our tax system compared to others. I recall watching a program on telly not so long ago where the fella showed the hong kong model and told of the german healthcare systems versus ours and the other financial problems with britain. I always thought this is a good country to live in but with an ever increasing state it seems things will only get worse.

but surely it is this increased state that is currently paying for your family?

Kind of yeah. According to that fella it's the people in the private sector?
I should point out that I myself claim not one benefit, My wife claims for working tax etc, I'm not entitled to anything as I left my job.
My wife is also studying to be a nurse which will likely lead to a state job.

okay that wasn't clear to me from your previous post. so is the affordability thing due to you now being able to take over the childcare? otherwise i don't really see how not working makes you better off.

We no longer have to pay for my fuel commuting over 80 miles a day, the cars essentially idle. My wife's commute is reduced as there's no 12 miles a day detour to the babysitters, we no longer require the babysitter for 2 kids all day(didn't qualify for help with the babysitter) etc.
The benefits we now get along with the wifes student loan and her income from her part time job combined with all the savings we've made with me being the house husband mean we're no longer losing money.
It's not an ideal position. I love spending time I've never had with my kids, but I wish I was working.
This is only till my wife finishes her education. As soon as she has, I'm back to work.
I've thought seriously about retraining and working from home but need to investigate it further.

    Jim

EDIT:- I'd like to point out that my wife giving up her education was considered. She'd have to keep on her job but in a full time capacity. We'd still have been losing money.
