My DD loves all things "Sims" on the pc and she has a DS - would this game just work on there?

I know pc's need expansion packs and other stuff I don't understnad

Would it be a stand-alone thing on DS, can anyone tell me?

yes the ds version is a stand alone game, mine have had them in the past never had to get or seen expansion packs for them
