Due to start this weekend: Received in email today

This week we all rejoiced when we the news of the Royal Wedding was announced because we all get an extra long weekend in April! Hurrah! Now, be prepared to rejoice even further as that little competition where we give away a huge TV, a Blu-Ray player, masses of film merchandise and about 500 films and box sets IS BACK! So keep your eyes peeled on the site this weekend for the launch of ‘Cinema in a Box V’! It just got BIGGER!

I am posting now to create a proper link for the advent thread. I will update at the weekend when the competion appears and will also change the date if necessary, although I seem to remember it finished on this date last year and was delivered next day.

I am happy to update each day of the competion with the answers. However, I don't remember who did it last year; if they would prefer to do it again this year. please let me know.:)

Hope posting this doesn't seem too over-excited but I loved this comp last year and even though I didnt't win I was so excited an MSEr did

    It's started!

    Day 1 Here

CIAB V - Question 1: The journey begins...

So all you lovely people it has begun, the bad-!!! competition to end all competitions, we’re playing a bit differently this year though, as each and every and every day until DECEMBER 23 we’re going to reveal a new prize- think of it like an advent calendar. (Plus they’ll be a few wild card prizes along the way in our BritFilms Newsletters, so keep your eyes peeled!)

Please, please, please make sure that if you enter you’re sitting by your phone at 9am on the December 23, we’ll call three times and then we and the prizes are gone!

We’ll just recap the rules briefly, you can enter each of our brain-busting questions once and that puts you in with a chance of winning around £3,000 worth of loot! Think carefully before you answer as you’ll only get one shot and we have been known to be tricksters in the past!

Drum roll please, we're unveiling the first prize which is some goodies from the Boxing Day release of ‘GULLIVER’S TRAVELS’ and well what great competition starts without a major prize? Not this one so we’re also throwing in a super-duper shiny new television* too, thanks to the kind hearted people over at 20th Century Fox!

    Onward and forth shall we?

    * Samsung LE32C450E 32 Inch HD Ready Digital LCD TV

    Help needed here:

‘Gulliver’s Travels’ was originally published in 1927, which buccaneering upstanding chap wrote it?
Edmond Seward John Grisham Irvine Welsh John Swift

Gullivers Travels was published in 1726 and was written by Jonathan Swift - but not sure if this is a mistake or a trick question!

    Today's question is up:

Nigel Cole directed this against-the-odds film, what other film about female camaraderie did he direct?

    Sex and the City
    Calendar Girls :D (from here)
    Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
    Saving Grace
Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none.
