  • I'm going to have a go at making this - sounds delicious & looks very pretty! How many chillies would you recommend, as I don't want it too hot & spicy?

    Thanks

I'd use the amount in the recipe, it's not hot and spicy at all just tangy (believe me my OH hates spicy food and loves this!)

I have made nigellas chilli jam 3 times now as people keep asking me for refils - was the most successful one I made last year!

Thanks :) The recipe calls for 150g of red peppers - how many would you say that is, 1, 2, 3?

Do you wait for the jam to cool & spoon into cold jars, or spoon into warm jars whilst still hot?

Another vote here for Nigella's recipe. We made it last year and it went down really well. We shall we making again this weekend for the hampers. It tastes great and looks so pretty.

150g red peppers is approx 2 peppers (obv depends how big that are though!) so not that much.

  • This stuff is delicious, just be careful on the timing, one batch of mine ended up vveeerrrrryyyyy sticky! I think I left it a bit too long. Still tasty and none the worse for it.

  • I made about 10 jars of this last week its really tasty hopefully will go down well in the xmas hampers.
  • I made this last year and was delicious, I have made another batch but it is more like jelly than jam with all the peppers at the top of the jar and none at the bottom.

I must admit I only left it a few minutes and not the 10-15 she recommends

Do you think this is the problem?

I think it may be, it needs to set a little so that you can stir it up and distribute the chillis throughout, it does reset though :)

My biggest disaster was cooking it too long once for some reason I didn't follow what she said I was sure it wasn't ready. It was very sticky and thick, still edible mind you but not as nice! :)

  • I made this and will be making again this year.
