    I made the chilli jam - no problems with it, and it turned out pretty much as I expected, except that it's more of a 'Chilli Rocket Fuel' than a chilli jam - it is hot, hot hot. I made it with small red chillis off the titchy plant I got from Homebase at the end of the season, and crikey, is it HOT!! It didn't ma ke a huge volume, but it's kept beautifully so far, and a little dot of it goes a long way - I'm adding it to anything I want a bit of extra zing to, as well as having it with cold cuts/cheese and bread etc. It may be some time before we tiptoe our way through the whole batch though!
    Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

    Thing is though how am I supposed to know if I've made something which actually tastes good until it's too late? :o

    It matures in flavour over 2-3 months but tastes good pretty much straight away, I usually taste before I put in jars :p remember to blow as hot!! and I always make a jar for us in every batch (usually half jars as a batch never sits neatly in an even number of jars!)
    and with my OH they usually get opened within a few days!

    As with all cooking I'd say taste, taste taste! :o)

    Laughing reading your post. I made the chilli jam and it is lush and not too hot. Last chillis i bought from Mr T were tiny and I used one to flavour a pot of sweet potato soup - talking 8 potatoes worth of soup. Rocket fuel - couldnt believe how hot!! - must be the smaller the chilli the hotter they are!

    Made the anthony WT apple and chilli jelly and the nigella chill last night - both turned out well looking forward to tasting them!
    Nigellas wasn't my favourite recipe to make though so will keep looking really fancy trying the sweet chilli jam from daily mail but may have to wait as so far my chutneys etc are developing a theme ive made;

    blueberry jam
    cherry tomato and chilli chutney
    asian chilli jam
    nigellas chilli jelly
    awt apple and chilli jelly
    quince jelly

    as these are for pressies I think I need some things that don't contain chilli :)

    Think I'm going to make raspberry ripple jam and chocolate and banana jam and onion marmalade...
