Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should

Do it, but firstly figure out how quick you can save the fees and put a small sum aside for emergencies (and shoes and shower) if you don't pay the DMP. Is your DMP a lot of money? If not, don't expect life to suddenly improve on your current income without the debt repayments. You have to sit and work out your realsitic sums with your wife. But at least you can get rid of the baggage and count down to the release from the worry.
