Glad it's a new day
Hubby had his first bike test yesterday........he was very irritable before he left which is nerves but unfortunately he failed itthe weather was bipolar yesterday poor soul but his resit is next Tuesday
Then when he finally got home he was only in the house 5 minutes when he got a call from work saying that they had lost a huge contract and therefore letting people go.......this included my husband  so a double whammy for him yesterday
This means the debt busting will slow down a bit, was due £850 on Friday for the council for my childcare fees and intended to put it towards the Halifax but now I've decided I need to do a huge food shop stocking up on tins and frozen food just til hubby gets a new job as I'll now need to cover the bike payment and his credit card payment until he finds another job so I'll be putting £300 aside of the huge shop on Saturday then I'll chuck the rest towards the Halifax as I still want it paid off so it's one less bill to be paid off and it means no matter what the holiday is paid off.
Hubby has applied for loads of jobs last night bless him he keeps apologising it's not his fault just means we need to get tight on the pennies until he's employed again which hopefully isn't long
Card is under the £1500 mark :j will be under the £1k mark by the weekend
Abbies also still applying for jobs, she's got a interview for a full time post in McDonalds on Thursday and a part time job in dw sports on Friday so fingers crossed for her :T

Oh no that's terrible DH losing his job. Will he get any redundancy? Bad of them to tell him in a phone call not face to face. Fingers crossed he finds something soon. When Mr SA was working he was a sub-contractor in roofing and was always getting laid off, it was a nightmare. He was off for 3 months at one point, it was such a worry. In some ways now he's on permanent sick benefits he's better off because at least he's got something coming in even though it's loads less than when he was working. Like you say good job you didn't really rely on his wages.
Good luck to Abbie xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I'm so sorry about his job. Hope he is ok. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.

So sorry to hear about your husband's job. It sounds like he's well on his way to securing new employment if he's applying been for jobs all day. You're right, it's great that you never really relied on his wages for covering bills and essentials. As long as you can cover them, you can have a lean few months if needs be. Hopefully he'll be started somewhere else sooner rather than later.
I know you're throwing a lot at the credit cards still, but have you got an emergency fund for anything that crops up? Might be worth keeping some money aside if you don't have anything already just in case it takes your husband longer than you'd hoped.
Will he be entitled to any redundancy pay?Sealed Pot Challenge 075

no he was only there for 6 months so no redundancy unfortunately
I have some savings to fall back on homegrown about £500 not much but I'm happy to scale down the debt repayments a bit but it just drives home i need this debt all gone just in case this issue arises again and all i have to worry about is the mortgage.
I shouldn't have to dip into the savings tho, I've also got the car insurance money set by, my renewal was £295 but its hubby's turn to take the insurance this year as we take turns so we don't lose out new claims discount. He found it for £321 which includes roadside cover plus he'll get £40 cashback :T
said no to one of my parents today.......wonders will never cease :rotfl: they asked if i could work til 6.30pm or 7.30pm said not a chance as I need a life as I work from 7am til 6pm Monday to Friday, i think that's enough hours to work plus with my Avon i reckon that's about 58 hours a week I work cue the drama of how it wasn't fair that she cant get childcare to fit round her work no more because her husband seems to be taking work further afield, stuck to my guns I'm not doing it
done my third gym class of the week too
right off to watch something with the hubby hoping to be in bed for 10pm :rotfl:NEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050 -

Jeezo, that's quite brazen of the parent! I think it's fair enough to ask the question, if you don't ask, you don't get. But to then moan about childcare is a bit silly. As you say, your hours are your hours and you already work long days and weeks. More than most childcare providers do!
My son's childminder (a few years back) had hours from 0800 till 1800 and she very kindly agreed that I could drop him off at 0745 to let me get away to work. It was a mutual agreement that we were both happy with and I would generally be back around 5.30 so she wasn't working extra as such.
However, if she couldn't do that, i'd need to change my hours at work. Ultimately, either her/ her husband's work has to give and they need to change things around the childcare or they need to find childcare that fits around their hours. There's childminders in my area that do 'out of hours' childcare in evenings and weekends.
Anyway, glad you stuck to your guns.
Also glad you've got a little savings put, but fingers crossed you don't need to dip into them.Sealed Pot Challenge 075
