Kim & Aggie's window-frame concoction

Options
Morning,

I was watching How Clean Is Your House last night and was interested in Kim's concoction for cleaning grime off window frames - I don't exactly live in filth but I DO have a disgustingly mucky window frame which I've been putting off and putting off, and will need to sort out before I move house.

I seem to remember it involved a bowl of warm water + 1/4 of a cup of white vinegar, 1/4 of a cup of bicarb, 1/4 of a cup of handwash-type soap, and 40 drops of something out of a bottle. I think she said grapefruit seed extract.

Is this right and where do you buy it from? Is it expensive and does it have any other uses?

Thanks

  • I think she said she used the grapefruit oil as it had anti-bacterial properties so I think you could probably use tea-tree oil instead, as that has the same properties doesn't it?

my friend who is a nutrionist uses grapefruit seed extract as an antiseptic and an antibiotic (she gave it to me when i had my wisdom teeth out last year) . I imagine you could buy it from health food places.

If it can be used to get rid of germs, i guess it makes sense to use it for cleaning.

Wouldn't it be simpler to use stardrops and a microfibre cloth?

Definitely, with a bit of Zoflora for antibac. Still, I suppose they can't push individual products, and the vinegar/bicarb/soap is more eco-friendly.
