Let's Build Bigger, Better Blogs - and Earn More While We're at It

Hi all,

I've been inspired to start this thread, and I hope it'll take off! Let's share encouragement and ideas on how to build our blogs - build readership, build the quality of our blogs, etc. Blogging is an excellent way to quickly earn extra money from home, simply writing about things that others will want to read.

Please post what's worked for you, and what hasn't. Let us know what work you did on your blogs today, and what goals you've set and/or accomplished!

Today I: blogged more than I have in ages! I feel really good about that, since it's a goal of mine to blog more regularly and build up my readership. I have a number of blogs, but am working to build especially those that have a bit of a readership already.

Take care all, and happy blogging to you!

  • Blogging Tip: I'm sure we've all read about how important it is to post regularly to our blogs. But...I've found that it's just as important to post only when you're really in a 'writing mood.' You can tell - your writing is so much stronger, than when you're slogging along, trying to force it. I think readers can tell the difference too.

My blog has had lots of ups and downs and it certainly is a rough road. I try to write content as regularly as I can, and I do get some hits, but so far only made £3.21 from adsense in about 4 months... I have spent the last week researching every possible way to make money from blogs but I am not really getting anywhere :(

I have been thinking of a good blog idea but its tough.
  • I'm fairly new to blogging, so bear with me :)

I've a question to those who use Adsense. I'm also using it, but how do you set it up for UK based ads in your niche?? From what I'm seeing so far most of the ads look as if they're leading to US companies...whilst I know the niche I'm in is also US based, I'm trying to tailor my blog for UK readers...or is that not a good thing???

I use adsense on my blog too. It seems to be hit or miss whether its a UK or US company, and to my knowledge theres no way of controlling it. But if you find one do tell!

    freecycle,

I think Google ads are geo-targeted. It depends on where the ads are being viewed from. I notice that when I view US-based sites, the ads that come up tend to have a UK slant.

    I AM BRAVE. I JUST DON'T KNOW IT....YET. :)

Mine is totally legit. I have blurred out some of the figures as its a requirement by google. I will PM you.

Its all about placement of ads though, use a click map to see where people are clicking then place ads in those areas :)

Very nice blog, be sure to put it on your MSE profile so when people click on your name it says "Visit Bigbase's homepage!" or whatever it is. In regards to click maps, googling doesn't really bring up anything? Is it a piece of software?

    Cheers

Tbh blogs dont make alot of money now a days unless you find a good niche. Mobile applications are the new in thing now

Indeed mobile apps are certainly raking them in, I just have no idea how to make them. Maybe I should learn as I am currently doing a computer game technology degree at university!

It would be good to get into. If you know anyone who creates them, send them my way!
