Hi
My OH has his heart set on a plain ring but he wants it completely matt rather than shiny and doesn't want any detail on it at all. We looked in loads of jewellers today and no-one had anything - can any of you lovely ladies (and gents!) help at all. He likes the idea of titanium or other weird metal!

I'm very fond of stainless steel for mens jewellery. It has a lovely, dark colour that is also very hardwearing. Here's nice looking site I just found which might give you some inspiration

Titanium and Niobium are becoming popular due to their naturally low allergenic qualities.0 -
They are generally polished and shiney because someone buffs them out and makes them smooth. A matt finish is a "satin" finish -

I did see some of these in high street jewellers.I love surprises!0 -

My ring is matt and plain.. in Palladium, which is 'poor' man's platinum - it still cost over £250.
We both got our bands from Beaverbrooks (who?... I'd never heard of them until we saw them in the mall at cribbs, bristol). They are a chain though so you may find one close. The one I got was on sale, though my fingers are apparently too small for a man (it's not what you got, it's what you do with them, right ladiees) so they had to order one in special so no sale discount. grrr.

My OH has gone for a titanium ring, a matt finish, plain flat band etc. We went to a local independent jewellers and have had both his and my ring made to order (my engagement ring is a funny shape so needed to have one custom made). His was only £140.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

Where are you pokey? If you can get to Birmingham then go to the jewellery quarter. Prices are good, choice is excellent, and you can something custom made to exactly what you want that won't cost the earth. You can make a day of it and there are some lovely pubs for lunch too :rotfl:0

Thanks for that everyone - Good to know wht they are called Maggie - makes live easier!
We are up in Edinburgh so can't really get to Birmingham for the day but lovely idea!
4nnabella - I love the idea of using an independent shop - will have a search for some today!

We've been looking at John Greed Designs based in Lincolin someone on here mentioned them ages ago.

My husband has a titanium wedding ring like this: http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/4992334/titanium+ridged+satin+%26+polished+ring/
I think we got his from Warren James though. We were on a very tight budget so we couldn't spend a lot. He was worried people would look down on us but I think titanium is a lovely metal. I like how dark it is, it's quite manly and suits my DH style.0
