This works out as a good deal, but unfortunately it is not allowed if you have already been an audible member previously.

I wanted to use the £50 for a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 8GB MP3 Player with Radio and Expandable MicroSD/SDHC Slot, which at the moment are cheap on Amazon. Not wanting to only use part of the £50 voucher, I tried adding two to the basket - and it worked! I got two for only £20 (normally would be £78 for two).

Hope this is useful to someone else - to stock up for Christmas, perhaps?

It was sent to me (as a previous member who had left) in an email. But other times I have seen it only for people who had not been members before.

You have to sign up for the audible thing which is about downloading digital books (so ideally you'd have an e-reader however think it can be done on computers also). Its somewhere between £10 and £15 a month and think there may be a minimum subscription of so many months.

Do they digital books that you read too? I always thought audible was for books in audio format - ie read out loud. Great for long car journeys or long dog walks!

Debbie is right. They are audio books, that's why you get a free mp3 player - to listen to them!

It costs £7.99 a month (you get one book a month for this), which works out at about half price if you subtract the £50 voucher. It is worthwhile if you like to listen to audio books anyway (I do) and could use a new mp3 player.

Ah! I see! I thought they were digital books- not even audio books! (Blonde moment- I didn't 'click' when I saw the title- and before anyone reports me I am a natural blonde!) I just assumed as all the e-readers are doing their thing at the moment that they were jumping on the bandwagon.

Hmmm, audio books could be useful for long journeys and if you don't have a blaring tube message pumped into your ears, louder then any earphones can cope with, at every waking second!
