and to make matters worse............. I was told today that my temp role is coming to an end in about 3 weeks. I phoned round all the agencies to get nothing at the moment.

What do I do now? What would I put as a salary?

I feel sick, I can't pay anything with no money :(

I made a start of telling my b/f, I put in a text (he was at work) that I can't afford to be out of work. it was the best I could say.

    Hi Katu

Welcome on making the first step and posting on here!

I am sorry to hear that your temp job may be coming to an end - on the off chance you live in London, PM me as I work for a recruitment consultancy and would be happy to help if I can!

Do you pay your creditors via direct debit? I would suggest that you cancel them for the time being to give yourself a bit of breathing space to sort out what you can afford to repay them, and if you are going to be out of work, squirrel away as much money as you can for the next 3 weeks as a bit of an emergency fund. If you do end up being out of work then it will be likely that you will be offering your creditors a token payment of £1, as others have mentioned, you can only pay what you can afford.

Please talk to your b/f - there are lots of people on here who have been reluctant telling their OH's, but feel so much better when they do. People do make off the cuff comments like your b/f and the news, but I am sure he wouldn't think badly of you, or berate you for it - and if he does, he's not worth it. All the support you can get, will help! Obviously that is what we are here for too, but you need support of your loved ones.

I had £19,000 of debt and never went down the IVA or DMP route, just managed it myself. I did contact all of my creditors, explain my situation, ask them to freeze or reduce the interest, and also enquire about balance transfers. One of them did remove all of my interest which was a great, but this was 1 out of 9 (I can't actually remember how many people I owed money too, a lot though), so I just made sure I snowballed my payments and set about paying a higher % to the creditor charging the highest interest rate.

When is your HP up on your car, you mentioned it is soon? How do you stand with this if you are out of work? Do you have insurance or payment protection that will cover it?

Please please get your filling looked at, if you leave it, you'll end up having to have root canal surgery and it will cost you more, not to mention the pain and it giving you a lifelong fear of dentists (yes, this happened to me!). You can't neglect your health!

Keep posting on here and let us know how you get on xx

Although I hope you find other work, having no income at all might make your creditors a bit more lenient, than thinking you have a good wage coming in but are not wanting to pay them (if that makes sense!).

Many of the people have suggested all the steps you can take. Its courage you need to act now before they act for you.Let the creditors know that you have been temping and can afford 1.00 a month until you get on your feet.have you looked at websites such as https://www.womenlikeus.org.they post temp work mainly receptionist type of work with flexible hours.
apply for benefits such as job seekers allowance etc.
You will already know what type of man you are about to live with and what you are bringing to the table.I would suggest to think hard about whether this will help your situation and his.Your reasons for leaving home.is it to be able to help your debt situation, move closer to work opportunities and what are his expectations to the upkeep of the home.does he expect you to cook, clean,be his lover etc.Keep focused on what you want to achieve.perhaps set a deadline and talk to your creditors as i was a little confused about your soa having 3 from the same company c/c mbna with all saying 0 percent apr.can this be negotiated into one .
    Hope this enlightens you

Thanks MsLondon. I am just so confused right now it's unreal.

Reall - MBNA took over the cards I had, I don't know off hand what the interest rate is but I think it's something like 34% I know it's high - if my payment is £132 the interest is £129 sometimes it's been known to be more than the payment.

I'll have a look at that website, thanks.
