I have a letter from ProSearch telling me I am owed £248.56 from a takeover of Centrica by the AA in 1999. Does anyone know if this is genuine or is it a scam to get either money ('admin fees' or my details).

did you have centrica or AA ( or AA member in 1999) shares ??
if so then contact the registrar direct from the details on your shareholding documents
don't pay them for the honour
and I think Centrica bought the AA

In 1999, we set a new standard for the breakdown and recovery industry and came first in the annual JD Power survey of UK roadside assistance providers.
Later that year, members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the AA demutualising and joining the Centrica group in a £1.1 billion acquisition
The following questions and answers will address most of your queries regarding the special share dividend and share consolidation. If you have any further queries, please call the shareholder helpline on 0871 384 2985*.
As a Shareholder, what will I receive/how do these proposals affect me?
Centrica announced on 1 July 2004 that, subject to completion of the sale of the AA, a special dividend of approximately 23 pence per share will be paid to shareholders. This payment will be accompanied by a share consolidation, whereby new ordinary shares will be issued to replace the existing ordinary shares in issueEx forum ambassador

Called Equiniti, very helpful and sorted out in 5 minutes. There is a £11.75 charge for the "re-issue" of the cheque, much less than the £26.38 charge for Prosearch!

I received the letter from Prosearch and duly sent off my form. Back in September. It's now January and I've still received no cheque. Am I alone or are you all still waiting too?
Thanks,

I'd remind them if I were you. The letter may have been lost in the post.0
