I took the advice that people gave to me yesterday and have reported my bank card stolen:o. I wait now in anticipation if all my wages will be wiped out on Monday with payday loans going out or have they been blocked. Cant get at my money till new bank card turns up, have set up new bank account with Co-op, I put my SOA on here and people have been brilliant in recommending where I can save money. As for one person mentioning I have sky.this is for my mother she loves football and my son (aged 16)...it is not for me, Im at work most of the time. Without my mother I dont know how I would have coped, I have been on comparison sites about gas/electric and seems I can save £350 so will switch, I will/am keeping spending budget.
My debts started long time ago and spiralled out of control when my brother came to live with me(diagnosed bone cancer) I cut my hours at work to look after him and everything went on credit cards....he died two years after fighting cancer(aged 40) and from there on I dont think I ever really cared about anything and haven't since, I just go through the motions my debts racked upto £62000, only for having my mother living with me and my son I have carried on, I met someone and that turned to disaster.....he moved in with me (hid my debts from him) but he became seriously ill.....had several operations ..pulled through but ended up that he couldn't walk......the strain of my debts/work/looking after him, I told partner in the end of my debts...he left(dont blame him). trying to hide everything from my son finally I had breakdown ,last year I couldn't pay into DMP but I've faced upto everything now and back on track. C.C.C.S are people I dont even know but have been my best friends in sorting out my mess, my best friends went long time ago (learnt that one)...I'm 53 and feel 83.....but life just goes on.Im doing everything in my power to save money now, save our family home, my dad would turn in his grave, give me biggest bollocking ever, what I've put my mother through....and thanks to anyone who reads this and kind words that have been posted to me.

Hi learnthehardway,
Sorry to hear of all your troubles. I hope now you've had your light bulb moment that things do get easier. It's done now and there's no point in continuing to beat yourself up over it, so concentrate on trying to get out of debt now. When things are tough, come back on to the forum as there's loads of good advice/support when needed.
Good luck in becoming debt freeIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

You not got internet banking ??? Can you not transfer your wages on-line to your new account ??0
-
If for whatever reason its not possible to transfer by internet banking can you not get to the bank first thing monday and withdraw all the funds in there in cash? At least that way you would be able to pay it all straight into the other account and have a cleared balance that cannot be touched.Credit card debt - NIL

Hi
Just a quick post to say I've subscribed to this thread to keep in touch with how things are going.
Don't forget to go to the bank first thing tomorrow to check whats happening and ensure that if your wages are intact you withdraw them and ensure they stay that way!
The DFW's can then help you with next steps.

If you go in with your account number and a photo id then should be able to take your money out with no problems. Can just say to them that the card has been stolen and you are waiting for a new one - they don't expect you to survive on no money in the meantime.0

Hi
Great News! Fingers crossed your wages are there all nice and intact.
As podperson says, take some photoID (passport/drivers license) and as much other supporting ID that you can (bank statements, utility bill, council tax bill etc).
Inform them you need to withdraw the money to pay rent/mortgage and then get that in your Co-op account.
Remember though - that money is needed for the mortgage (and if you can to pay the arrears).
The important thing now is don't give out the details of your new account to anyone, especially a payday loan company or DCA.
Now we've done the firefighting the DFW's here can help you with next steps (advising on SOA etc).
Well done for getting things sorted.

Firstly, sorry to hear about the problems and struggles you've had
And a little of topic I know...
But if you are wanting to keep Sky and are out of contract with sky have you tried calling them up saing that you are "thinking of leaving, you're finding it too expensive at the moment, you think others are offering better deals etc etc" and seeing if they offer you a deal to stay? Often you can get very good offers this way....
- this has worked for many people. If you feel you must have it, pay as little for it as possible.0
