Barclaycard Won't freeze Interest ??

Options
Hi
I am quite new to this.

I sent of letters last week to my CC companies asking them to freeze interest and accept the payment i could afford ( for Barclays this was £ 21).I also sent them all the details of my income & expenditure.

I got a phone call from them at work today and they said that the minimum payment they would accept is £ 45 as i am not with a debt management agency. Also they woudln't freeze the interest just reduce it and mark my credit rating accordingly and close my account.

Obviously unless the interest is reduced by a serious amount I am not going to get anywhere fast with paying off the debt.

Does any one have any experience of dealing with them and any tips/ advice ??

Thanks

Hi-sorry this will be quick as I have to go back to work.
I had same thing with Barclaycard.
I rang them whent through my income/expenditure with them on Wednesday. I offered £20.00 to them on the basis I have other creditors and they had accepted my offer for 6 months.
Barcalys said they would accept £45. I said I would love to pay £45 but simply couldn't afford it. She then put me on hold and came back and said they would accept £20 and freeze interest and late payment charges for 30 days and then review it. I owe them £6333!
I'm not sure what will happen next month but I feel like I've been given breathing space. I can't afford more and that will be my final offer. I went through my income/expenses with CCCS and followed their recommendations.
It wasn't easy to pick up the phone and call them, but at least I wasn't hanging around waiting for letters to go back and forward.

I would suggest you give them a call, they ere OK, if not exactly friendly!
    Good luck

Other cc companies i was with have been refered to dcas who are accepting payments inline with my dmp.On a plus side if you had ppi with barclaycard reclaim it i did while on this dmp & won & got the money credited to my account
