Comrade Crow's 12% pay increase

In view the Union outburst today blaming the bankers for everything. Seems "No one likes me I don't care Crowe" is quick enough to line his own pocket.

An article from August. But nevertheless shows the two faced nature of the Union barons.
Militant union baron Bob Crow has brushed aside calls for wage restraint – and quietly pocketed an astonishing 12 per cent pay rise.

The hardline general secretary of the Rail Maritime and Transport union has taken the £10,000 salary increase, despite the painful pay freeze affecting millions of workers in both the public and private sectors.

His basic pay rose from £84,923 in 2008 to £94,747 at the end of last year, according to figures published by the RMT.

How about Bob Diamond's multimillion pound salary: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1309686/Bob-Diamond-wins-big-1-35m-salary-Barclays-chief.html

Bob Crow earns peanuts by comparison - and does a far more useful job than this smarmy Yank git.

At least Bob Diamond isn't a hypocrite.

Not to mention that he manages a multi billions pound business that employs a few hundred thousand.

Also remember that Barclays did not claim any state aid, and is one of the best capitalised banks in the UK.

"Do as we say, not as we do". Cheers to champagne socialism .
  • I'm not here to defend Bob Crow, who comes accross as an odious character, however the RMT membership has increased significantly since he headed it (up approx 40%) and its difficult to argue that he doesn't deliver for his members, despite the cost to the rest of us.

If you worked on the railways who would you want to represent you ?

I have to agree with the above, I am not keen on what Bob Crow stands for but he is brilliant at what he does and as long as his salary is paid out of union subs, who is to argue?

around £1m p.a, allegedly and worth every penny to his non-dom boss My Lord rothermere for remorselessly scaring voters, hospital patients, homeowners and xenophobes.

bro crowe certainly scares a few here. he's become the new arthur scargill, fit for the 21st century: a convenient hate-figure and just what the mail needs.

but as someone working in the rail industry I can tell you that the RMT is poorly organised and the quality of representation weak when compared to the smaller, more efficient single-grade union ASLEF.

crowe delights in winding up the right-wing press. an RMT organiser told me that the bust sitting in crowe's office is pure mischief, guaranteed to get the rabid right frothing and crowe chuckling.

I find all of this hilarious, but is he worth £94K? if pay levels were determined by employees ability to scare, bully, mislead, misrepresent and confuse I would say yes. bob crowe is definitely worth 10% of dacre's salary.

I think the fact that a tube driver earns roughly twice what a bus driver earns does ay something about the effectiveness of Crowe. He is quite amusing as well.
