Hi all,

Not exactly sure what the correct name of the module is, pretty sure its 'finding and getting jobs' and its set up by A4E. Well anyways, ive been told i must go on this module in the near future and was just wondering what would be involved in these sessions? The session lasts for 2 days from 9-4.

Can anyone please explain what i should expect from this module?
Thx.

Most likely how to search on-line/newspaper/networking ie jobsearch skills. Writing CV's with tips on 'selling' yourself. Interview techniques might include mock interviews and/or possible questions.

Might even include group activities like teamwork, goal setting, presentations skills, confidence building. Info on training opportunities etc

Assume Job Centre have told you to go, if so it won't matter whether you fancy the course content or not, you'll be obliged to go or face a possible cut in your benefits!

Any idea on what type of exercises will be involved?

Has anyone on here experienced one of these sessions?

Just go with the flow James, it's not optional.

They aren't going to be doing experiments on you, i dont think you can be prepared as such, just turn up on time and do your best

I've found it's best to be as willing as possible to attend anything like this. I go every fortnight to a job club which assists with job search skills, covering all those topics and more. So far the Job Centre have show very little interest in me and are extremely pleasant whenever I go in to 'sign on', so I think it's helped.

I've proactively searched out other free courses like this and have a 2 day one scheduled, I stick it all down in the little diary booklet thingy, the JC can see I'm trying to improve my chances of getting a job even when I haven't applied for any (well Aug is a frustratingly quiet month), therefore they don't nag me...........and I'm only on contribution based JSA, so they're well aware the state won't be supporting me for long!

I'm sure you'll come away with some 'tips' to help you, assuming you don't prefer a life on the dole.
