I'm keeping everything crossed...

that in the next couple of months I might just get some (money) luck.
The reason is, in my old job, which I left a year ago after working there for 2 years, the organisation began a process to re-evaluate peoples pay (everyone was quite underpaid in comparison to other places). For one reason or another this process has dragged and dragged on and I've just been tipped off that should finally finish in the next couple of months.
It affects me, because our old bosses have said that people who have left will recieve 'back pay' for their job while they were there, this depends of course whether their individual role is evaluated now at a higher pay - which mine certainly should be.
I have no idea what this means (hope this makes some sense) as in how much I would get, but it certainly worth keeping my fingers crossed for. I'm not going to go mad and think that it will be a lot, but certainly should be something.
Anyway, just wanted to share, will keep you posted on this!

Hope you get a pleasant suprise honey x0

Thanks.
I think part of why I got in to debt is because I was paid really low salary (I wanted the experience) and never seemed to be able to adjust my spending accordingly. I worked my butt off for that place, so really hope this comes to something good for me....0 -

Hi skintmonkey,
Is there a union involved at there? just thinking that they would be perfect for representing you & keeping you informed. Has the company got in touch with you personally yet to acknowledge the situation? If not, why not write a letter asking about the situation - maybe wait until things start rolling a bit more. How lucky would you be that after re-appraising your role there, they ask you back on double the pay?!;)
Anyway, just a few ideas that came to mind - gotta stop doing that thinking thing! lol

Hiya, just wanted to say that following your advice I contacted the Union rep in my old job (I was a member until I left) and she doesn't really know the score either! She has said though that she will bring up my queries at the next meeting about the scheme so hopefully I should get some more info then.
I have had to make contact with them, not the other way around. I initially contact the Personnel Manager who I knew was co-ordinating the process. I tried to press her for as much info as I could get (in a nice and friendly way of couse) but all she said was that my post had been assessed and she would put me on the leavers register and contact me when the process completed - which now looks like the end of November.
One of my queries (which hasn't been answered) is are leavers entitled to back pay if they haven't been replaced after they've gone? Not all posts have been replaced, but mine has been replaced by a higher post - so not sure what that means.
Anyway, again will keep you posted.0 -
Keeping my fingers crossed for you too! Keep nagging them, you deserve some answers, and hopefully they will be positive ones.DFW Nerd No. 140

I've been thinking about this quite a bit since my last post. Do you think that if I don't hear anything in a couple of weeks, I could contact them via the Freedom of Information Act and see if I can get information that way?
I don't want to make a nuisance of myself but I would like to know the score and am feeling really impatient!0 -

hi Skintmonkey - I know you're anxious for info but I'd hold off if I were you hun -bull in a china shop and all that. They have said they will keep you informed so I don't think the Freedom of Information Act will do much for you yet especially as you didn't think arrangements would be over until end of November-ish. They're not obviously withholding & if they have to apply this to a lot of staff, it takes time to figure out.
What I would do is write to Personnel Manager you spoke to, saying thank you for your information and help and that you look forward to hearing further details at the earliest opportunity. You might even want to add how much you had liked your job and were good at it - who knows, you might get head-hunted.Also write similar to your Union Rep. Better results with honey than using vinegar etc. Send both letters recorded delivery so they can't deny receiving them.
From now until the end of November, keep a timed and dated log of who you speak to about this matter and what you and the other person said/agreed. These things will be more important and useful at a later date IF things go pear-shaped. That's when you go see CAB with the info you've gathered.
That's what I'd do skintmonkey - I'm not an expert at all though so it's up to you. If you're due it, you'll get it I'm sure. If not then you'll have facts to face them with rather than going in all guns blazing with little hard fact.
I hope I've helped a little - good luck."If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'***0 -

Hiya, me again. I've been thinking about this matter again and starting to get impatient. Thought I might get my former colleage and Union rep a gentle nudge via email to see how the meeting went (assuming it has taken place) where she promised to discuss it. I get on well with her and I don't think she will mind me dropping her a line, in fact we did get on rather well when I worked for my old company.
I'm not relying on this working out and I get some money back or anything, but I would like to know the score. I worked really hard for that company for nearly 2 years and earned peanuts - so am keen to know the outcome.
Anyway, thanks for listening..again!0
