all i can say really is do what you think is best..... if you want to cater for 80% of your guests then thats your choice. people only recommend a certain %age as a guideline x

This is what annoys me. If there is always food left over, what is the point in wasting money and over catering? Idiot he is!
Because they make a profit on every person you cater for! Doesnt matter to them if food is left over, infact they probably like it as they staff get to eat whats left behind the scenes.
We're only having 20 extra people in the evening so we're not catering for them at all. We're stuffing the main guests full of stodge at 630pm (fish pie / lasagne & apple pie) so they wont want much, if anything, at 9pm.
We're only having cheese (wedding cake) & biscuits & pork pie at 9pm and my cunning plan is that nobody will eat much and I will have more cheese than i can eat left to take on honeymoon!0 -

I know that, of course they do/they would.
What I meant was, he is an idiot for mentioning it to Chel, because who is honestly going to cater for every single person when you have been told there will be loads left over?
And Chel, don't forget, 30 people might not like spring rolls (example lol!) and 25 may hate quiche, so I would never cater for every single person, apart from Christmas Day!

My mum is a caterer, well, she owns a sandwich deli shop, but does cold buffets also for weddings, parties etc. I asked her how many she usually caters for and she too suggests 70% of the guest numbers. She provides plates, etc for a little more than the full number of guests in case anyone wants a second helping!:heartpuls dawnebabe :heartpuls0

we have to cater for 'at least 70%' but that is as much as we will..
I have no idea how many people are coming but i have invited more than expected so if extra, i will cover the cost (only supposed to have 150) but if not, there will be food in abundence.
If they tried to get me to do 100%, i woud say less are coming. deal with it after. do you have it in writing how many are catered for?Proud to be Member of BSC #92Hoping to get debt free again :wall::heart2: working hard to make my daughters proud :heart2:0 -
