Isle of Wight foot passengers £5 day return

Hi just came across this offer while looking for cheap ferry deals
Limited to first 10,000 bookings Portsmouth to Ryde

http://www.wightlink.co.uk/special-offers/offers/fiver.aspx

I have booked a day return for each end of my 2 week holiday total price for 2 adults and 2 kids £30 instead of £60

Hope it helps someone - The ferry to the Isle of wight is per mile the most expensive crossing in the world apparently !

Thank you so much! Having lived for 17 years near the South Coast, I am ashamed to say I have never been to the I.O.W. but all this is to change thanks to your link! We will have a great family day out.

Thanks, excellent deal- and in conjunction with a £5 return Funfare on National Express, I'm looking forward to a nice day trip. Now I'm just hoping the weather will be as hot as this deal...
  • probably a silly question, but do you need a passport to go to IOW???

Wow, thanks for this. just booked a day trip for next Saturday then discovered it's the last day of Cowes week. What's the best thing to do with young children (7,5,2) on the Isle of Wight without a car? Is there loads to do around Ryde or s it worth travelling around? Any advice would be much appreciated.

No, you don't need a passport as it is part of the UK.
  • Hi

There is quite a few things in Ryde for kids. Skating rink, roller bowl, peter pans playground, swan pedalos, swimming pool. If you turn left out of Ryde Esplanade station and walk along the sea front past the hovercraft its all the way up from there. If you keep walking there is Appley Park and then right along the sea front from there will take you to Seaview.

If you want to go around the Island, the best way is to get the bus from outside Ryde Espalande Station and get a one day rover ticket. Then you can travel around all day. I think this is about £10 for an adult, £5 for kids or £20 for a family.

Have a great day and enjoy our beautiful Island. I hope the sun shines!:)

Jump on the train to Shanklin or Sandown, Shanklin is probably better as the sea is more gently sloping, bucket and spade special and the water is clean so its safe for kiddies. There is a small funfair at Ryde for small children but it is a walk along the pier to get too.
  • Hi there ive clicked on the link and its displaying oops...is there a code i can use to get the discount?
