DCA's recording calls

This is an issue i never see debated on any consumer/debt forums really & feel that its about time it was spoken about....
DCA's always say when they ring you that the call is being recorded.
Firstly - are they allowed to do this by law?
I ve had DCA's phone me in the past & throw a big strop when ive told them that i was recording the call as well, telling me that i was not allowed to do that etc....
Errrrr ok - so if im not allowed to do it, then surely a DCA is not allowed to do it either?

Thats good to know.
As a home user you can record your telephone calls, but as a company they need to adhere to lots of regulations to do so.
If you intend to share the information then you do need to state the calls are been recorded, although i guess 99% of the time you have no intent to share it.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Hi Ton, things may have moved on since I last checked on the law regarding recording Telephone conversations / Bugging.
As A Private individual you are allowed to record a conversation, provided you first tell the person you are talking to that you are recording.
If you don't make this clear you are breaking the Law (not sure which ones). The recording would not be admissible as evidence.
(I was once asked to bug the office and several personnel as part of a theft investigation - Also caught the MD, His Secretary and Secret Business partner). But that's another handy story.
I can well understand why DCA personnel would not want to be recorded.
LOL:rotfl::rotfl: Can you Imagine what a legal recording of one not following the guidelines could be used for.:rotfl:
