How much do you want to spend?

In the past I have bought my father Shaving kit (proper brush and handle things)
Whisky is always a favourite, choose your budget, find a nice shop, tell them how much you want to spend and away you go.
Digital camera I bought one year and a scanner on another.

Guess it depends if he has hobbies etc too. In the past i've bought whisky - not from a supermarket but from the specialist shops, rum again tried to find more specialist ones. dvd sets, and one that seemed to be a firm favourite - a magazine subscription. it was the present that kept on giving. I think it really depends what sort of thing your Dad likes.

A couple of negative points (from personal experience)

I used to buy him after shave occasionally - until he begged me not to. He still likes it but doesn't use it much nowadays.

I know 2 people who have been given digital photo frames, my dad being one of them. They're both sat in the corner gathering dust. (the photo frames, not the people) If you've got a compatible computer it's much easier/better to use to view photos.

    On a more positive note
Some of us now club together and buy him B&Q vouchers. Always come in useful. Obviously no good if he's not into DIY, but does he have any other interests?

What about taking him away for a weekend. I took my Dad (and Mum) to Paris for his 60th present. I'm really glad I did because he died 3 months later and the memories of the trip are precious.

What about a magazine subscription on a topic he likes. I get my dad gardeners world as he is an avid garderner and has an allotment and he really enjoys reading it. I have done it for years.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
