Even if you admit to the claim and ask for time to pay,is it true that you still have the CCJ issued against you ?

    Yes, it's confirmation that you owe that sum to that creditor.

    Not if you pay before the court hearing, or if you pay within (I think) 28 days from date of hearing (Actual clarification should be on the summons, but you can also ask at the court office - go in if it's local, or telephone if it's at a bulk handling court like Northampton).
    But I wouldn't worry too much - a CCJ is not the end of the world - it affects your credit rating, sure, but may not, necessarily, stop you from getting credit.
    If you do get a CCJ and pay it, you can ask for a 'Certificate of Satisfaction' there is a charge, but it is circulated to the credit reference agencies and although they will still show the judgement, for 6 years, theyt will mark it 'satisfied'.
