Capquest - I can't win

Report them to the office of fair trading. They actually sent me a fraudulent letter when I requested a copy of the original loan agreement, as I wanted to dispute it, as the majority of the debt is actually bank charges (which I intend to dispute)...
They sent me a letter from the Bank of Scotland. It was obviously a fill in the blanks form. The thing is, my debt is with the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is a completely different company.
This company acts illegally. They are not allowed to add any interest onto your original debt. Check it out with the OFT... In fact, I would like everyone who deals with Capquest to report them to the OFT, even if its just for the fact that their call centre staff are nothing more than wannabe thugs and gangsters...0 -
Hi Guys,
I have recently recieved some letter after foolishly responding to Telogram and confirming my address and need some advice.
The first one is from ati (JB Debt recovery) and refers to me owing Thames Credit 1200 odd pounds. Being as I have never heard of Thames Credit I am a little sceptical. The letter is incredibly vague, has no signatire or contact name and is a very bad photo copy! They do however say they will consider legal action if I do not respond within 7 days. I do not have anything on my credit rating for Thames Credit, ati, JB debt recovery or any from company for that matter listing defaults etc.
What should I do about it?
The second letter is from the much discussed Capquest, they claim to have bought some very old debt of mine (about 4 years I think) from Natwest and are chasing payment. I have received no notification from Natwest about this or any communication in over 3 years. In fact Natwest ceased chasing me for payment after they broke the Data protection Act and told my father about my debt and personal information without any idea of who it was, I called them and complained about it and never heard from them again.
Again there is nothing on my credit rating from Natwest or Capquest. I am a little confused as to the best course of action, should I even contact them at all?
My main concern regaring both letters is whether they can add things to my credit rating that are not currently shown? For example although I have nothing on there now, can they still legally chase me and will it affect my credit?
Many thanks

Cool. Good start. And dont let them get to you! Its their job to grind you down!
You may have to pay the next instalment by cheque - you dont want to fall behind with payments but I am sure they will be to slow in sending you a standing order form.
Some of my DCA's (not used Capquest) supplied SO forms without any details on, expecting me to send it back to them first. I set up mine using my online banking and all sorted almost instantly.
I personally have had all this and dealt with capquest. I pay them £5 a month have done for many months and this is the same with all but you of my creditors( my choice not theirs) I filled out an income and expenditure and adjusted it to suit me. I got advice from the citizens advice who told me what limits i could claim i was spending out, i found this very helpful as i wouldnt have been putting down half as much as i was without their advise. Ive soon learnt quickly and now manipulate the figures to suit me (Best Way) the DCA's have tried to get more to which i always tell them that i cannot give them what I havent got and will not be getting myself into further debt to give them what i do have. They will try always but youve just got to know your in control and stick to your guns. They will find it very difficult to take you to court as long as you are paying what you say you can afford. I also have had problems with the phone calls, Never give them a phone number is the best, but i also thought there was something against them contacting you at work unless there was an emergency with your account. Write to them by recorded delivery stating they must not contact you by phone and state that you consider this to be harassment and you will take further action (there is somemore information on what to write and what to do on the consumer action group website. and if they persist you should always follow through and take further action. These rotten companies deserve it !!! they dont care one bit about you; what they are doing to you, how they make you feel, if they make you ill (I suffered reactive depression because of my situation), and they dont care how they do it with their bully boy tactics. :mad:0
