Does the OU not do loans that you can settle faster if you want? If you are doing a course I would not see that as debt - more a long term business investment.
I've got to do one in January and I'm not sure who is paying for it, me or them £204. So although I don't want to pay if I have to I will as it may lead me to something more. IYSWIM.
My sister swears by Next boots - she has bad knee and is heavy on one foot but these seem to last.0 -
Forgive me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be cheaper all round just to slap the OU course on a new O% purchase card rather than paying £20 to balance transfer. Can the course wait a year or can you get it funded via a staff development package from work if its beneficial to your job?Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

I don't want to do anything related to work, and they're cost-cutting like fiends at the moment, so chances of getting it funded are slim to naff all! I could leave it for a year, but think it might be better to start while I have the inclination to do it - I've fancied doing an OU course for years, but have always found an excuse not to do it, and I think that the only thing that has really been stopping me has been my own confidence

Money
£11.30 received from Quidco today, so this has been sent to my credit card. I have also received my £15 in Reward payments from Halifax, so £10 of those have been sent to the Loan Fund, and the other £5 left in the bills account to help cover my potentially massive phone bill this monthI have also received the rent money, so the finances are:
PAD/Spends = £275 (To cover all spends/PADs for this month + next weekends trip)
Groceries = £102.90
Purse = £26
Outstanding loan = £982.58 :j
It's really nice to see this under £1000I'm going to have to keep PADding to it though as I know that interest will be added to it before I get paid and if it goes back over £1000 I'll be gutted! I don't know how much we'll spend next weekend - the car has a full tank of diesel at the moment so I shouldn't need to put too much more in it. When we get back I'll have two weeks till payday, so if I have spent less than £150, I'll PAD the change, and that will leave me £100 in the PAD/Spends account for a fortnight. Hopefully that will be enough

Looking good :j
I'd go for the course while you fancy it. Especially as there are still potential cut backs in your industry. What course are you thinking about?0 -
What course are you thinking about?It's a combined degree - Criminology and Social Policy, so about as far removed from my current job as possible (Although I am aware of the widespread opinion that all people who work in banking are crooks :rotfl:)
It just looks really interesting, and I do have many regrets about being too [strike]drunk[/strike] [strike]depressed[/strike] drunk to stay on at uni and finish my degree. It would be good to do it myself, even though it would take an age to do as distance learning.

well done for getting below £1000 xx

Bah, posted mammoth post and lost it
The gist of it was:
NSD so far :j
Sold some work shares this morning, so expecting £135 within the next 7 working days. I'm going to use this for tickets to Ross Noble, and the Shoes Of Wonder from M&S (Assuming I can find them in my size....) and PADding the rest to the loan account. This should ensure that even when the interest gets added on to it the balance will still be less than £1000.
Nothing much planned for tonight apart from batch cooking some bolognaise and wrapping my mum's birthday present. I don't want to post it as it's v. fragile, so sending it to the North with Mr Fresian's sister who is off there for a few days. Haven't spent money on it either as I bought it in the post-Christmas sales (A Royal Doulton figurine for her starsign)
Going to finish my healthy lunch now - really want something loaded with cheese but it's not worth ending up in A&E for :A0 -
Money
PAD/Spends = £274
Groceries = £102.90
Purse = £26 - NSD yesterday, woo :j
Outstanding loan = £981.58 (Small PADs until holiday over with!)
I also noticed that my mortgage has gone under £46000 this month, so that's quite nice to see too. According to the mortgage calculator, if I repay £100 per month over what I'm paying at the moment I could be Mortgage Free By 40 :rotfl:
I made my bolognaise last night but forgot to wrap mum's present. Shall do that before work instead. I am going for lunch today and to the pub after work, so possibly quite a spendy day, although I'm using doctors orders to avoid booze as an excuse not to go into town
