    I think it is Tyndrum on the West Higland Way. This is a former mining Hamlet as in the clue. I have been through there several times, but can't find a photo online that would show it from a similar angle.

    The Gaelic translation of the hill of the little stream, I think, is Beinn Dorain from here:

    That puts it in the region of Tyndrum which may be the town in the picture. If so, is he standing on either Fiarach or Beinn Dubhchraig?

    It's a guess only - I hope someone else knows better.
