Please help I don't understand :o(

To cut a VERY long story short..

I was contacted by my secure loan company and told I owe £326 as I was in arrers - much to my surprise as I pay EVERY month by DD (They they set up at the begining)

Turns out they confirm I have paid every month BUT the first DD payment was set up wrong and went out on the 3rd Sept 2007 instead of the 1st therefor somehow my first and last payments on their systems are flagging up overdue/ in arrers!

Problem is they are demanding this money still!! Despite the fact that i have paid every month! i keep saying to them if they can tell me what months the payment is outstanding from and they can't. I hate money stuff and ensure all my finances are paid as they should be so this instance is really unsettling me

Any advise is appreciated

Can you contact your bank and ask them to print off each and every DD payment that was made to the company?

Once you add up each payment, you should be able to reconcile the total paid to the company with the total that they are expecting to be paid.

In addition to the above, ask them for a "verification of the debt" so that they can prove that this money is owed.

This would be a good opportunity to overcome this then and take the bull by the horns :)
  • Many thanks for your reply.

I have and do deal with 'money stuff' but work hard to not have to deal with stress related money isses - its therfor annoying to have this situation thrown at me!

Thanks for the advise I will be asking them for varification of the debt as suggested

If the repayments were set up to come out of your account by D/D the error is surely theirs and theirs alone.
What is wrong for them to amend their system to show new first/last payment?

Otherwise consider getting a loan elsewhere to pay them off.
