I have no problem with people selling stuff as most have said, if they need the cash for other things more important then why not. i enter comps as a hobby which over the years has become more of an addiction, but it means that if i win things i usually keep for myself or give to friends and family as part of birthday, xmas presents. having a dry spell of winnings this year. so far only a razor and a koola for me.

i've only sold one win before a wii, my friend wanted one and i needed the cash as i owed money to my mum, sold for 130. i felt wrong keeping it knowing she would get a lot more use from it and enjoyment, she got a bargain i paid my debt. i generally dont enter to sell though because i only enter stuff id like for myself or stuff to give to family and friends, i dont enter the kids comps etc as i dont have kids, i comp to win treats for myself and my family. but if i won something and needed the cash well i'd happily sell.

****Good Luck to all whether you keep the prizes or not****

In a lot of cases it will be against the rules as the terms and conditions will have clauses in them saying something along the lines of "prizes may not be resold" or "prizes are non-transeferable".

In competitions where this is the case I feel that if you choose to enter then you are agreeing to the terms and should not sell prizes.

Take the recent Highland Spring tennis giveaway. The terms very clearly stated "The prizes cannot be sold for financial gain" yet just a quick ebay search brings up loads of tickets that are from the Highland Spring competition. It really annoys me that people so blatantly break the competition rules just to make some cash. It makes me wonder what other lengths they go to to break the rules as well.

It would be a lot fairer if the winners who could not go tell the promoter and let them be passed on (or even follow the example of those generous people who occasionally give away unwanted tickets on the "I won" board :)).

The usual term used for competitions is 'prizes are non-transferable' but I always thought that meant that the PROMOTER will not give the prize to anyone other than the winner?
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

I only enter for things i want, not to sell, but sometimes prioritys change.
I have only sold prizes on Ebay when they haven't been quite as expected or something more vital (red bills/ Little boys shoes!)has come up.
There are a few different mindsets here, alot of us comp for fun/relaxation plus the bonus of getting some stuff now and then but others do see it as more of an extra money making tool, hence the mass multiple entries some people put in!!
But I just don't have the time to try and turn comping into a job, i barely find the time to put my one entry in for stuff i want!!

(and congrats Polo!! good luck for your goal x )

I haven't sold anything I've won, yet. Items I've won but didn't really need/want I've either given as Christmas presents, passed on to family and friends or to people on here.
I have won one prize which I do intend to sell though and surely that's my choice. I put in as much, if not more effort than many and see no problem with it.
It's entirely up to the individual and their circumstances.

must admit i have never sold a win not because i have never been in the position to sell it but because i have only entered comps that i or someone close to would be happy with it ie i wouldnt enter a comp for something that my boys wouldnt love or for something i couldnt give to a family member, i think that all the peeps that post comps on here are fab and i also think that if peeps can win something that will change life/month/week or day for the better then why not sell on a win if it means that child can have shoes or the family can save for hols then so be it i say good luck to them if it isnt ment to be theres then they wouldnt have won soz for the rambling but i have read this thread a few times and think that mostly ppl are forgiving and understanding and all know wat ppl are goin thru at such hard times me personally i have a hubby and 4 boys to look after and all wins are greatly received and i know one of them will happily take it

thanks again to all posters and i wish all lots and lots of luck xx
best win in 2011:eek: 4 nights in Las Vegas
