Seeing things you didn't win on ebay :(

I think it's entirely up to the winner what they do with their win. I've sold a few things I've won on Ebay, got something on there at the moment as it happens, but have also given away hundreds of pounds worth of prizes away to other people and to charity including a luxury weekend away, concert tickets, festival tickets, signed celebrity stuff.
Some of us invest a lot of time and effort into entering comps and people want to make a bit of cash on the way, fair play to them.
I won a £220 Parker pen, nice pen and all but it's a pen at the end of the day - I'm happy with a Bic so I sold it to somebody who does want to spend silly amounts of money on a pen at a bargain price given the RRP - he was happy with his ridiculously expensive pen, I was happy for the extra cash :rotfl:
Generally when I enter a comp I have a use for the prize, whether for me or somebody I have in mind but I have absolutely no problem with people selling prizes on. A new 42'' plasma TV is fabulous but it doesn't put dinner on the table and quite often people need cash more than the prize.0 -
I only found this forum last week and have already become addicted
Initially I entered everything I could - now I have slowed down (fingers getting sore) and try only to enter for prizes that I would definitely like to win for myself or that would benefit my adult children.
However I have noticed that somethimes there are 'runner up' prizes which perhaps I would not find so appealing and I would have no hesitation in selling a prize if I had no use for it - after all it is better doing somebody some good than sitting in a cupboard.
At the moment I would just like to win something, anything....pleeeeez :jThanks to all OP's your efforts are much appreciated :A0 -
actually....I've never looked on ebay to notice any prizes on there!!0

I think it's teriible winning things & then selling them on e-bay - these things could be given to me:D
Any unwanted smartphones, i-pads or netbooks please pm me & I will give you my address to send to:rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously though:o I think it's soley up to the individual who has put in the many comping hours to decide what to do with their 'earnings' as in a way thats what I see the wins as - rewards for hours put in. Fantastic when something shows up that you really want but if you get a runners up prize it's not always your cup of tea
If it can bring a smile to a friend/relative/neighbours child's face great if not why not make someone else happy by getting a wee ebay bargain:)
Although I still think it would be better if these unwanted wins were passed onto me0 -
99% of the time I sell my prizes on eBay to get the cash. Nothing wrong with it at all....and no I dont feel bad about it!
During the Haiti earthquake I donated 100% of the profit to charity, helping people in Haiti....raised £20 for them :-D0 -
And whilst we on the topic of selling said prizes if anyone wins a duplicate ps3 I would be more than happy if you were to sell it..
especialy if it was too someone like me who desperatly saving for one for her sons 11th birthday which is fast aproaching
Please no one take offence to this im not meaning harm just wishfull thinking!
Love too you all.. Happy comping!2010 challenge A.B.C.D.[STRIKE]E.[/STRIKE]F.G.H.I.J.[STRIKE]K[/STRIKE].L.M.N.O.P.Q.[STRIKE]R[/STRIKE].S.T.U.V.W.X.Y.Z
Best of luck everyone!
I have also gone for platinum in the presents challenge.2/150 -
I've sold the odd thing, but usually as a last resort.
If I receive something which I cannot use then I try to give it away first. I won a voucher for a 15kg bag of dog food, turns out that type of food gave my dog the runs (a lot does!) so I sent it to the local dog rescue centre. I've given the odd prize to charity shops, beauty products which don't suit my skin/hair type or colour usually go to the girls at work, etc.
I could really do with the money, my partners been out of work since he broke his leg and ankle and getting back into work during a recession is near impossible, as many others will probably know. I'm in the red every month yet I'm too lazy to sell on Ebay and don't have much time to work full time, study, comp and ebay on top of that!!!
The only things I have sold is a brown mascara which came in a goody bag of make up which I couldn't use as have black eyelashes, a DVD which was not what I expected, a CD I won two of but I think that's it.
I comp to win stuff I can't afford or justify buying, and it's lovely to get little treats in the post.
I don't mind people selling stuff at all, each to their own, and some people really need the money. I would think that people who do sell stuff really do need the money.
I would think that most people that comp cannot afford the things they win and that's why they do it. It's always nice to see a MSEr win a fantastic holiday when they haven't been on holiday for six years, or win a Wii which their kids wanted for xmas but that they just couldn't afford. I believe that sometimes karma plays a part.
I know not so long ago a MSEr won a large ITV win just when she was stood in a supermarket trying to stretch very little money quite far, it was a lovely story and if that's not fate I don't know what is!!!2009 Wins = £833
2010 Wins = £6,597
2011 Wins = £7,083
£2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
20 in 2012 = 4/200 -
I think its completely up to the individual what they do with their prizes. No one has any right to tell others what they should and shoudn't do with their wins. I have given away a lot of prizes free of charge to other MSE'rs and I have been luckly enough to have been given some valuable prizes, so what comes around goes around. I have also sold some wins on Ebay and I dont feel bad about it at all, its given me valuable cash to treat my little ones and that is worth any prize.
I do disagree with adults pretending to be children to enter childrens comps to sell prizes, that is cheating, and cheating kids which is worse. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A0 -
I have to say I have entered things that I have then gone on to sell as in an ideal world I would have kept them but required the money more and could not justify keeping them myself/giving as a present.
I never enter anything specific that I could not use such as vegetarian/gluten free/petite prizes or children's competitions but I think its each to their own and people spend such a lot of time putting posts on here/entering comps.
I have felt prize envy when something I really wanted didn't come to me, but I would completely understand in this economic climate someone selling a prize to earn some extra cash.
****Good Luck to all whether you keep the prizes or not****1. Cash
2. Holiday 3. Shoes 4. Car (well dream big!!!!!)
5. TV 6. I PAD 7. Kindle 8. Wii/X box kinect
9. Smeg fridge/freezer 10. Jewellery
11. Make up

I think it's down to personal choice. I don't enter to sell items but if I was strapped for cash as I am at the moment I have to look at it have a nice prize (whatever it may be) or pay the bills and eat? Everyone puts the time into enter comps and as annoying as it may be if they win they can do with the prize as they wish. Just my opinion though0
