I can;t get tomato out of baby's clothes!

I am finding that anything tomato-based will not come out of my 9mo's clothes. I'm not sure why. Can anyone suggest how I can get it out? She has covered a lovely T-shirt and I really want to restore it to white again. I usually dry indoors but do have a line. I wash at 40 degrees with no fabric conditioner.

Sunshine works wonders for tomato stains!
Either hang it on the line in the sun or hang it up on a curtain pole facing the sun, and they stains should disappear within a few hours. May take longer but it does work!0 -
I used to use a Vanish stain stick with a nail-brush and then Bio-Tex.
Quite honestly, it's not worth all the aggro so I used to strip my charges down to their vests when serving them anything that stained badly.0 -
Hi skintchick,
I agree with demonicangel, sunshine works wonders and I have had some great results with borax (which I'm not sure is still available?) This thread has more ideas:

Napisan or Milton can work wonders if you have any handy. (Saying that, I still have some badly stained bibs from a vile jar of babyfood my husband bought once. Why are they always orange :-) ???!)0

if the clothes are pure cotton then try ordinary bleach - directly onto the stain. leave for a few minutes then wash as normal.
stripping messy eaters works - so do those little plastic aprons they sell for kids crafting - the ones that look like little back to front macs!0 -
We were out so I couldn;t strip her and she is very good at wiping her hands on herself anyway!
I have Milton but was worried about damaging the pattern on the clothes, they are either coloured, or the T-shirt is white with a glittery butterfly on which I don;t want to ruin. OH says just to buy a new one but that seems excessive.
Will try the sunshine thing. And will read the other thread.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
