I'm in a mess, help please

Hi, as you can see I can't sleep. I spend all night sat here worrying. I've got in a mess and tried to pretend it will go away but it won't. I've got a big CC bill with lloyds tsb £9200, i've got a loan with an outstanding balance of £5330, another loan with Northern rock taken out what seems a life time ago at £142 a month my overdraft is now up to £1000 (limit £1500) I'm only working part time (£110 per week) due to an illness a few years ago. My mortgage is £400 a month and my hubby has been made redundant. I've managed to pay everything up to now but I don't think I can cover this months and future bills. Unfortunately everything is in my name.:( I get working tax credit and child tax credit but this is due to end soon. I don't want to lose my house and don't want to miss my payments. I don't know what to do.. My head is in bits. Any help is much appreciated.
I was looking at the unenforcability thread earlier but one of my loans was taken out in 2008 so can't follow that route even though the little !!!!!! that had me sign up added PPI without my knowledge, (which I later had removed) and also had crosses before my signature in pen (Is that allowed?)
Thanks for reading and sorry for waffling ( forgot to say hubby is looking for a new job and got some money coming in a bout 3 months which I will pay off my credit card bill (about £2.500)

    Hiya

Unenforceability does not seem the best option here really, as you've rightly spotted. It would not allow for the post 04/2007 account nor the bank o/d.

Best of luck with things, someone will be along soon to help with things but whatever you do don't panic - it is not illegal to get in debt so don't worry, i'd suggest that you look at speaking to the lenders and asking them for a break, maybe allowing a missed payment or two or reduced interest or something.

They should be more willing to help, if they don't want to know then threaten non repayment and see if that shifts their sway of thoughts.

    Good Luck.

Hi Gilgrissom, so sorry to hear how worried you are {{{hugs}}}. Ok someone with a lot more experieince will be along and give you some advice about what to do and where to find the info. If it were me I'd be contacting a FREE debt advice agency (I think you should start with a sticky at the beginning of this forum for research, once you start to have some knowledge about what you can do hopefully the anxiety will reduce). Draw up a statement of affairs (SOA) so you know what you can afford. I would then suggest writing to you creditors requesting they freeze interest/accept lower payments including the SOA in these letters. There are some template letters that request no payments for 6 months etc.

You said an illness has meant you can't work fulltime - have you applied for DLA? Discuss/make appl with CAB for best chances of positive outcome. Look on the up your income board - can you sell things on ebay? alot of ppl on here make a lot money each month to clear debts through doing this- its free listing this weekend as well.

Ok just some thoughts... Remember no matter how difficult things seem right now it will be ok (a friend of mine has a fantastic attitude to difficulties. She admits to herself what the worst case senario would be and makes a plan of how she would deal with it. Then she knows if the worst happened she had tried her best to resolve it so would have peace of mind at least and anything else she can cope with - sorry its her philosophy so not so easy for me to describe!).

Someone else will along soon to offer their experieince and more concrete advice. Keep posting as it will help - its very cathartic expressing it and ppl giving you support I have first hand knowledge of this, ppl on this website have helped me through a very difficult/distressing situation this year xx

Great advice, exactly what I would have said. Speak to everyone CAB, CCCS etc, knowledge is power with debt and try not to worry too much, there will be an answer you just have to find it and definitely keep posting, there is a huge reservoir of experience and sense on here. Good luck and a virtual hug.

It can seem absolutely overwhelming and enormous when you start to deal with your financial responsibilities. But you can do it.

Break it up into 15 minutes chunks eg to book an appt with CAB or speak with CCCS, another 15 minutes to source some paperwork etc etc

You will fluctuate with how many 'chunks' you feel able to do in a day, but try to do at least 3 to keep things ticking over in the right direction. (Posting on this thread will count as a chunk!)

    (((hugs)))

You've come to the right place for support, the people on here are fantastic!!

I can't readlly add anything to the advice aready given - SOA, talk to debt charities. However, you MUST make sure you get your sleep and eat well. If necessary, talk to your doctor.

Remember, you are not alone x

Hello sorry I haven't been back. I've made myself ill. I have cancelled my DD to Northern rock today and cannot pay my credit card bill this month. I've spoken to cccs but I'm worrying about going over my overdraft. I'm trying to make sure I'm ok for next mortgage payment. I've even stopped eating as much. I don't know what to do. Lloyds tsb have given me a holiday payment on my loan to them but I think it's time I went in to talk to them. I checked Entitledto.co.uk tonight and I would be better off not working at all, at least I would get help with my mortgage and not have to pay council tax. In my job I'm classed as self employed so have to pay out travel expenses, phone costs etc. By the time I've paid to go to work I've only got about £85 per week left
