    Phoebe running is the best!

Unexpected money is awesome and the best thing for me to do is pretend it never existed and send it to the CC debt. I'm much better about that at the moment, in the past I'd have treated myself.

I hope my filling experience is as good as yours. I dread the dentist and would honestly avoid it if I could. Such a grown up attitude. :rotfl:

Got the estimate in from the dentist for the work I need - £150

So time to scrabble through the budget and try and find ways to cobble that together by 4th August. Very, very frugal summer coming up methinks :rotfl:

£150! Bonkers isn't it?! That's at an NHS dentist as well so thank God I have that option in my local area.

I don't know how best to tackle that cost. Do I whack it on the credit card and add to the debt or do I take £75 a month off my CC debt payment and instead pay in cash for the dentist and allow interest to accrue on the existing CC debt for another month? I'm just not sure what's best.

I feel like all I do is worry about money at the moment and I hate it. I put £20 cash in my account yesterday and the bank appear to have "lost" it. They don't seem too bothered but that £20 was for a father's day gift that I need to use my debit card for.

Any suggestions of what I should do about finding the £150 for the dentist?

  • Isla hugs i found the diary... the dentist? well what would you feel most comfortable with? the dentist is needed end of its a necessity, if you would feel better doing 2 months of reduced payment to credit card do that :D because i somehow feel you wont feel as bad... if you pay on the card you will probably berate yourself when you do not need to but sorting the debts can be a ball ache.. are yopiu still on route to be debt free september if so id still be feeling great :D xxx

Thanks for taking the time to track down my diary :)

It's all a bit chicken and egg, I suspect I might need to move my debt free date to October. I'm really reluctant to do that but I don't know what else I can squeeze out of the budget to keep affording everything. It's just getting a bit tiresome! I know I shouldn't grumble but I am so close to being rid of this millstone but essential things keep clogging up the path - ash dash, dentist...

The bill has spiralled as the damage in my tooth is worse than they originally thought. The new bill is predicted to be around £300. I have no choice now but to move my debt-free date to 1st October. I was originally absolutely gutted about this but then I remembered Kayleighpea reminding me a while ago how I would be in a worse position if I hadn't already started attempting to clear my debt. I've been reading through Martin's tips and ultimately this is an essential bill, I can't not have my teeth fixed as if the damage gets worse so would the bill. I also can't really eat because of the pain so it's not something I can ignore.

So dentist's bill £300 and interest on my existing debt of £16.58 so my revised figure is now: £1420

I know Martin's advice would be to apply for a 0% credit card and do a balance transfer but I just don't want another credit search on my history just now because we've been looking at changing our mortgage and the bank has been running searches.

I know. I think the worst thing is I'm PAYING someone to inflict excruciating pain on me, WHY do I want to do that?! :rotfl:

  • I can understand your frustration but October is still really close.

One of my dogs has a lump on his tail so we have to take him to the vets to get it checked out the consultation fee alone is £24 which I know isn't a huge amount but I'm already short time month so it feels like an enormous amount - but it needs to be done so as soon as my OH gets paid he's off to the vets (the dog not my OH!)
