Odd title l know....in agony here with toothache, only thing that gives a minute or two of relief is a mouthful of cold water, nurofen not touching the pain, and because l'm drinking so much up and down to the loo so l dread to think about how my night will be, thats if l don't drown first

Go and get some clove oil from the chemist (and some cotton buds).British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Poor you
.....I've been there too
I always used soluble painkillers (solpadiene or somesuch), they seemed to vauguely work.
I've also used clove oil on cotton wool so much the smell makes me gag even now.
Friday night tooNot just a sucker for sweeties..:o0 -
Okay before I post medical advice always read the instructions , and yes its not allowed but Iboprofen & paracetmol taken together will give you some relief .

Bloke at works wife is a pharmacist and she said you can take them together. Think it's because they work in different ways or something like that.Everyone I know wants to be a millionaire.
Not me, I want to be a billionaire.0 -
You can take them together.
But trust me you want Nurofen plus0 -
Sounds like an irreversible pulpitis. (Toothache eased by very cold is pretty diagnostic).
You need to see a dentist who will numb it up, pop a hole through the tooth and take out the dying nerve.
Painkillers won't really help - and if you get to see a dentist, don't be fobbed off with antibiotics. There's no infection yet, so they won't help.
Personally, I'd just hold an ice cube against it until you get to see somebody.
If there IS a cavity on that tooth, then this is probably the ONLY tooth pain that clove oil MIGHT actually help!
But only if you can get it pretty much onto the exposed nerve. If not, it's more likely to burn & damage your gum than help.
Dentist ASAP.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
