storing jewellery

i understand this isnt strictly an OS topic, so if you need to move it after it has run its OS life pink, feel free

i was just wondering how you store your jewellery. i dont have a jewellery box, just a wooden trinket box that i store everything in. nothing i have is particularly valuable, apart from one pearl necklace from OH, which never tends to be far from my neck ;) ) but i hate the mess my trinket box gets into and want a proper solution. dont know what though. any ideas?

i have necklaces mostly (which i dont like to 'hang' - they seem to get tangled  ), one or two rings, beads, bracelets, stud earrings and a few dangly ones.

i'd love to hear (or see, photos are more than welcomed ;) ) how you sort and store your jewellery.

  • Ooooh...what a lovely idea for a thread....and a chance to have a nosey at other people's stuff!!! :p

Here's my jewellery box....I just keep the 'junk' stuff in it. I also have a small safe which is screwed into a concrete floor - that's where the 'good' stuff is kept.

No piccy sorry. I have tons of cheap - Next/Accessorise type stuff. I keep it in Ferreo Rocher trays. The individual sections are great for keeping every thing seperate.

I store my cheap necklaces on hooks on the inside of my wardrobe door. Got the idea from a Trinny & Susannah book. It also helps you to remember to wear them.
My better stuff lives in its original boxes in the top drawer.

I'll post a photo when I get home.

thats quite a good idea actually. wouldnt work with my wardrobe unfortunately, but a good idea none the less.

MIL has an old dresser in her room, and she hangs stuff off of the door knobs for the glass dispay cabinet bit, and over the corner of her mirror

i want to have it all together in a specific place. its not that im FUSSY or anything... :o:p:D

I saw a necklace hanger thing the other day in a crafty-shop....it was a miniature dressmakers bust on a single leg, with 6 mug-tree type hooks coming out of the top....

at present I have got some mug racks - the concertina type - on the wall for some of my jewellery, but am in the process of concocting a new system, which is one of the value shelves from B&Q in pine for about a fiver, which will have a chrome rail slotted into the wooden brackets.

I have got LOTS of necklaces and bracelets, as my husband makes it as a hobby and part time small business and I am running out of room.
