to be honest you probably wont be able to write off the debt, and really why should they write it of, they did originally give the money to her in good faith and she has spent it, and she will have known about all the interest charges etc when she took it out
this being said you can check the unenforceability thread to see if there is a way of this being unenforceable, however this will affect her credit rating
however at 68 and already struggling to pay what she already owes why she would care about being able to get more credit is a bit crazy really
the other thing to do is to ask them to move it onto a life of balance card (barlceycard do one which is at 6.9% interest for exsisting customers) this will not really affect her credit rating, however she would then not be able to use the card since the interest on anything extra she puts on it are killer
what other debts does she have?
have you sat down and done a SOA (statement of affairs - link in one of the sticky threads on this forum) with her to try and help her budget a bit better to work out how she can try and afford to pay thisDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
 10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
 20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0

You can't claim back interest charges, only admin charges over £12.
Interest is the company profit, like you get interest of savings. As she had done cash withdrawals i feel this is a case of irresponsible lending rather than borrowing.
As above if the card is older than april 2007 - read this - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2305463
Otherwise, write them a letter explaining the situation and her age and ask as above to move it to a lower interest card with new spending disallowed.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
