hiya
always long to buy a BK Double Whopper each time I go by their branch, but always end up not going in coz of the guilt i have in eating one as i do consider it a big sin to eat at these fast-food places (prob have one every 2mths or so). is there an alternative that i can buy in freezer/fresh meat compartment of a s/market that is just as tasty.. i do make my own sometimes but it's a bit of a palaver with egg, breadcrumbs, putting it back in the fridge to harden up etc.,
i've tried various brands (Birds Eye etc.,) and store own equivalents but they've never tasted that nice...:(

I make my own, with decent minced beef, beaten egg with some bread torn up & put in the egg for a while until it falls apart, chopped onion & pepper, I don't like salt, sometimes will throw in herbs if I have some handy. I don't put mine back in fridge. They're lovely.0

In addition to ingredients from hermum I add a dash of fresh grated nutmeg and 1 crumbled up oxo cube. I start with 500g good mince and make 4 1/4 pdrs any not eaten at the time can be put in cling film - freezer bag and bunged in the freezer.0

Jamie Oliver's recipe for burgers is great. You use crushed Jacob's crackers instead of bread.0

I make mine in a big batch and then freeze them individually wrapped, that way you don't have to make them from scratch everytime you want some "fast food"0

Hello Dogstar.
I have tried many shop bought varieties of burgers, and really haven't liked any of them either - perhaps the fact that no-one so far has offered a great alternative to the Burger King burger means that there isn't one? Those I have bought just seem to extrude SO much fat, that the quality of the ingredients has to be questioned.
However, I know it isn't what you asked for, but I have made my own in seconds - literally!
Ingredients: minced beef, seasoning if required
Process:
1) blitz beef (and seasoning if required) in food processor
2) squash beef in a plastic food bag into a patty shape, fry or bake in oven till cooked.
3) Voila, the BEST beefburgers ever.
You really don't need any binding agents, as the beef, once blitzed, sticks together brilliantly, especially if baking in the oven.I'm a nutter :j0 -

I can't remember ever eating a BK burger, but I suspect the only way to buy similar ones is in bulk from a catering wholesaler.0 -
We always get burgers from our local butchers, they're already frozen, seperated by plastic discs (so it's easy to pull them apart when frozen), they taste delicious and don't ooze loads of grease, and therefore don't shrink.
I think the BK burgers taste nice because they're flame grilled, maybe wait until theres a nice day and bung some burgers on the barbecueSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Sainsbury's Char grill burgers.
The ones we had last year were the taste the difference ones.
they only seem to have these nowSainsbury's Chargrilled Quarter Pounder Beef Burgers, Be Good To Yourself x4 454g
They have the same taste as burger king0 -
We like Tesco's Finest with the Jalepenos in them. But then every meal we have is hot and spicy.
In fact I often turn these burgers into meatballs and make a tomato based sauce, cook the meatballs and mix with the sauce and top with small chunks of roasted potato. Delish.....
Otherwise I make my own and put things like Feta Cheese in the middle.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100
