Anyone used Hillary's for Vertical Blinds?

Would you recommend them?

Don't know anyhting about them but my impression of them is that they are more expensive than companies I see advertised locally. Could be completely wrong.

Some friends had them in a conservatory and not very happy with the fitting plus no difference in the quality compared to ones we had fitted by a local company for half the price.

I started the above mentioned thread.
I would run at high speed in the opposite direction if I were you.
Next do nice blinds, identical to Hillarys for a fraction of the cost you just need someone to fit them.
Hillarys cannot fit blinds, they are hugely overpriced and the staff are all incompetent. Most of the fitters I met admitted they did it as a 2nd job to cover the bills, no ability seems to be needed as they work on commission.

I almost said in my post "but they may be better quality" so thanks for answering that question for me.

As someone who has had Hiliary blinds fitted in my conservatory, bathroom & spare bedroom on different occasions I'm able to say that I have not had any problems with them at all.

Both times the men who fitted them were very professional & carried out the work quickly to a high standard. On the first occasion he even suggested I choose a different blind which was similar but much cheaper.

I think it very much depends on who you get as they work on a local basis.

I would happily recommend Hillarys & in fact I already have done.

    Hope this helps!

  • i got a quote from Hillarys 2 yrs ago for wooden venetian blinds for 2 rooms of average size windows & it came in at £500!!!! he even added that i could get the whole house done & add it to my mortgage!!!! unbelievebale.
we sourced the blinds online ourself for £80ish per blind & my husband fitted them (eventually!) himself!
Hillarys in my experience are very expensive!
they also contacted me by phone to tell me about their special offers & said they would send me samples of the blinds they had on special offer (aliminuim) & they colours were : silver more like chrome very bright! gold & bronze mmm lovely not!!
    mummy to 3 monsters!
trying to money save, but spot too many bargains on here!!

    Steer clear!!

We had a local firm do all but one of our blinds and they did a fantastic job - Hillarys did just the bathroom one (the wife didnt like any from the other firm) and they managed to mess it right up!
We complained and after about 4 weeks the guy came back and made things worse!!

After that I managed to sort it myself!

  • They have a very high turn-over of Agents every year! 800 join ... 800 leave! Most agents (they call them Advisers!) are inexperienced & use the Company to 'cut their teeth' on before joining other companies.
Good but limited choice of fabrics, but quality can be an issue even before they are fitted by inexperienced people. Most advisers are part-time. Many complaints are about Hillarys people not turning up for the appointment or sometimes for the fitting.
I would advise you try an established local company or by recommendation. Be careful too, that some small companies start up & disappear quickly!
