WTC - is this dodgy?!

Hi all,

I have just received a phone call from a lady who said that I have won a hair and beauty make over in London at Warren Street for myself and 4 friends - or 4 of us in total, didn't really catch which. She wanted me to provide her with a date I could make it there and then, but I said I couldn't at the moment and she is ringing me back later. I asked which competition it was from and she said it was 'Health and Fitness'..... it doesn't ring any bells and I can't find any comps on here that could be it. Anyone got any ideas on if this is legitimate or not?

Scam, they will ask for a deposit in advance, there are threads on here about it, - just popping out so have not got time to post a link but do not give them any card details.

There have been some scam ones lately, I had several calls from the same company saying I had won a make over but needed to pay a deposit of £40 to secure my place. See if they request any money and go from there. It is of the general opinion that if you win something it is free and you should not have to part with any money!

I got a call last week and she asked if I was still interested in it I asked if I needed to pay a deposit and she said yes so I said NO THANKS - if you have won it as a prize you shouldn't need to pay a deposit as they would get paid even if you don't turn up.

Thanks guys, I thought as much. weeowen, I remember entering that competition too, so am figuring that's probably the one they have got my details from. No wonder they said to enter telephone number carefully!

What a shame, I could have done with a free pampering session too!

I got the same company calling me last week (Warren Street was mentioned) did some reasearch and it is a con!

i had this the other day too, she wanted a date booking right then on the phone, thought it sounded a bit weird so asked her to call back later, not heard from since was an 02 number
