CCCS won't remove Debt from DMP

  • Cheers for that, I have seen that drop down box. How did you get your creditors to send proof that the account was paid.

I wouldn't trust mine ;) to take a payment then send a receipt.

I actually did that by mistake just seeing how my DFD changed. I then was open with them and that is where they didn't agree with my stance.
This months payment doesn't include Lowell so I will see how it goes with the F&F offer. If they accept I will be very very suprised but worth a try.

Thank you for this valuable thread. I will possibly use this tactic in the future to get rid of one debtor which is about £460.00 whereas the others are in £2.5k to £4.5k region.

    Debt-free and Proud!
This is really interesting. I asked a similar question in the 'ask the cccs' thread.
I will shortly have enough money to clear two of my smaller debts and rather than pay it into my plan as a whole and have little effect i wanted to get these two settled so more money can go to my other creditors and i feel i am getting somewhere.

I will remember this when the time comes.

    Thanks very much

    :)

Have CCCS not asked you to send proof of the debt being paid in full ?

I have a few smaller balances and mentioned to CCCS that I would like to pay them off with a bit of help from family, I was told that I would need to send in proof that the debt had been paid before they would remove the debt from my dmp.

When you ammended the balances to zero, did they drop off your DMP the following month ?

I'm on a dmp with CCCS and they were quite happy for me to pay F&F's under my own steam and left me to it...in fact, they sent me a pack on how to do it...just had to update my details on the website to show zero and my monthly amounts got reallocated.

I didn't have to send in proof. Seems there are mixed messages here.

The messages are getting a little mixed. The facts are: -

If a debt is settled by either full payment(all the balance cleared) or an accepted full & final(accepted as full but less paid) the CCCS will allow you to zero it off the DMP.

If a debt is seen as unenforceable so you can't be chased for the balance but it is a balance none the less. CCCS will not alter the payments to that creditor.

I understand the need to play equal with creditors where it is enforceable but not where I don't need to play fair as the creditor isn't.

Hi, yes you are right, lets not forget a DMP is a voluntary thing not like an IVA and its upto you untimately to manage how u clear ur debt. The CCCS are purely a facilitator, thats it. But they are very good from my experiance,

  • This is very interesting to read, as I have an overdraft (approx £200) with Halifax which is just starting to incurr the £1 a day charge, which will send the debt upwards.
Just received a cash gift from a family member, and really want to use it to make a F+F on this debt. I've heard that CCCS can stop your DMP though if you make additional payments to a creditor, is this true ??
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.....I just need to find the switch.

Hi, its unlikely but if the other creditors found out they may not be happy about it and then decide not to agree to the plan, I pay an extra £4 to HSBC to make up my dbp payment to £40 so they dont default me as an example, also there is an option on the drop down menu on the cccs website where u can adjust your balance, there are lots of options, one of them is actually "Made additional payment to Creditor", "obtained additional funds" "Gifts from family and friends" etc etc.
